hi mirianm, musarrat was not the first one to sing the song originally......... in 1940-50s, Surinder Kaur a Punjabi (indian) singer and her sister Parkash Kaur sang all these songs. These are folk songs, first sung before independence (india-pakistan partition) and then when musarrat composed her shaadi song albums, she re-sang those and in fact begum noor-e-jahan also sang all these punjabi shaadi songs before musarrat.... but yes, musarrat did a very good job and i have her album as well........... i have heard her live at a family friend's party in Canada too........ she is a very nice person.......
