Male stalker inundates John with calls; actor goes to cops

John Abraham filed a complaint at the Bandra police station on Wednesday, alleging that an unnamed male has been stalking him and harassing him with constant phone calls.

Additional CP, Vishwas Nagare Patil (West region) confirmed the news saying, "We have received the complaint and investigations are on."

Mirror got the details of the incident from a friend of the actor who told us that the man first contacted John a month ago and the actor initially brushed off the insistent phone calls as the overtures of a fan.

"But the man has become a nuisance for John over the past month. He started by calling and saying that he wants to meet John," said the friend. When we asked if these phone calls ever got lewd, the friend replied, "No. The called never said anything objectionable." After the constant barrage of phone calls, the actor finally decided to confront the man but when John finally got on the line and told him, I am John Abraham,' the caller refused to believe him. Continued the friend, "The situation got worse after that. John started getting calls from the person on his land line number. His assistants too were not spared and then he crossed all limits when he started calling up John's parents. At this point he was calling several times a day." But the last straw came when the man called up John's staff and let them know that he was keeping a constant eye on the actor's whereabouts. That was the flashpoint for the 40-year-old star.

"John was in for a shock because this person knew exactly what he was doing throughout the day. He decided to not take it anymore. How dare did the man call up his parents? Enough was enough, and John called his manager and asked him to notify the cops," revealed the friend.

Despite repeated attempts, John remained unavailable for cooment.

Most Bollywood stars are well versed with the antics of the most ardent of fans. But John Abraham was in for a rude shock recently when a die-hard fan started calling up the actor's family members in a bid to reach out to his idol

After John called and complained to the cops, the men in khakee swung into action and apparently even detained the man. However after a change of heart, the actor recently requested the police to let the man walk free.

Says a source, "On Sunday John received a call from the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Vishwas Nagre Patil, informing him that the fan had been nabbed. After John heard that he was just a regular fan who was desperately trying to meet the star, he asked them to let him go." John apparently even asked the ACP to have the fan call him up directly instead of contacting members of his family.
