Will India overtake US by 2050?

An article appeared in the paper sometime back,that India would overtake the US by 2050. Ok, so I know that is going to generate a lot of different reactions.😛 But the thing is, is it really possible?

On one hand,the US economy is slowly inching down bit by bit, whereas the Indian Economy is moving up. But India as such has many problems such as poverty, illiteracy,overpopulation which the US doesn't suffer from.

So, will it be possible to overcome these problems by 2050 and actually reach where the article predicts? Or is it just a mere wild dream which doesn't have any hope of coming true?

I was thinking about the same issue from today morning!

India is not developed yet ,forget the thought of competing United States!!

Still somany crores of people are uneducated,without basic aminities and there is no proper infrastructure!!

What should India boast about????

What actually Ausis are??? a ver simple humanbeings like us... What did they dO??? they dO simple practice and hardwOrk like us....

nOw the QuestiOn is... If we BOth three(IndO-Pak and Ausis) having same sence Of living, then what make such a big difference between us.... that Onle thing is "THOUGHTS"... the whO have winning taste, they definetly have winning thOughts in their mind... but India's economy is growing at a 3 times the rate of America's

India has over 3 times the working population of America

the question should be "not will", the question should be when? and 2050 is way too liberal an estimate

No. India cannot.

In India only the rich are becoming richer. The mean standard of living is still the same. Till we make developments as a nation we cannot even compare ourselves with any developed country.

Yeah agree with you Maya but a lot'll depend on the quality of leadership we get...infact there are too many factors involved. To get a country of more than a billion, reach to developed nation status is going to be a herculean task.
