Jaipur girl Priyanka Solanki was
an ardent follower of
'Madhubala - Ek Ishq Ek
Junoon'. Little did she know
that one day she would land up
on the TV show herself, and her
friends and family back at
home would be watching her on
it. A nation-wide contest to find
the perfect heroine for
onscreen superstar RK opened
the doors to her dreamland -
Mumbai.
"Acting was my dream since I
was a kid, but I wasn't allowed
to go to Mumbai to pursue it.
When I won this contest, only
then was I allowed to leave
home," Priyanka tells us.
After the contest was
announced on TV, Priyanka sent
in her photos and videos, and
was called to Mumbai for
auditions. "There were several
other contestants and I had to
clear three levels of tests to
bag the role. I have never faced
the camera before, nor have I
taken any training in acting. As
a kid I used to watch TV and
imitate actresses. I'm super
excited to have landed the
role," she says. So excited she
is, that leaving her hometown
behind and staying in Mumbai
is seeming like a cakewalk to
Priyanka. "I have friends in
Mumbai who have helped me
out. I am looking for a flat and
when I get one I am going to
ask my mother to come and
live with me. I haven't faced any
troubles in Mumbai so far, and
I'm so excited about my
dreams coming true that I am
not even missing Jaipur,"
Priyanka shares.
She studied in Subodh Public
School in Jaipur and
discontinued education after
Class XII in order to take care of
her family business. And
Priyanka says that it's pure luck
that has landed her in showbiz.
"It's by fluke that I got this
chance. I'm completely new to
this industry and had no
connection with it whatsoever.
The first time I was on set with
the actors of the show, it was
unbelievable. They have
become my inspiration now,"
says Priyanka, who would be
playing the role of an upcoming
actress in the film industry on
the show. According to
Priyanka, her role is slightly
comic. "I'm shown as slightly
dumb and stupid," says she.
Her folks and friends back at
home are also excited about
seeing her on screen. 'They are
on cloud nine - they sit through
repeats of the episodes to
watch me," she says.
