Sorry Rads. I guess this time our thoughts aren't in tantem :p
First of all the, CCTV business. Personally, I thought it was a great way to show how the smallest of tiffs can escalate into the biggest of rivalries. Maximum times, the reason for a huge fight is some kind of a small argument. The fact that Imperial is a media college doesn't have anything to do with it having/not having a CCTV unit. Not all big schools & colleges have them. I study in one of the biggest schools in THE most unsafest city in India, & we don't have one. As far as Royal is concerned, honestly I fully atest to the fact that I could be wrong because it was so long ago, but werent the cameras installed when Banga became Princi. Even that time the Buddies felt suffocated by the cams, & so they broke them in retaliation. I don't remember there being CCTVs during Banga ki Pungi or any of their other pranks when Rama Sir was Princi.
Old wine in new bottle? I actually look at in another way. S2 started off with a BANG with the theme of Cs vs Ds, in short, Avi & Omi's rivalry, & RanSh's first test of friendship - that off them overcoming their egos, their clashing personalities & ideologies. And that was what was shown uptil the Good Samaritan Challenge was ANNOUNCED. Uske baad? Where did this track go? It basically was left hanging in thin air, while we were subjected to around two months of 20 min per epi look look hawa hawa, & thus a stagnant love track, a ridiculously lacklustre love confession, Buddies acting like a bunch of jokers with no aim in life other than matchmaking, certain individuals who had no interests other than coochie cooing, an extremely loud, OTT, hindi film style stalker track & other ridiculousness. Sorry if I sound harsh, but the bitterness from those months is way too muchđł.
But NOW, FINALLY, the show is back on track with its original theme of S2, the one left incomplete, the one which started out amazing & fizzled into saccharine sweetness & hunky doryness in every way. The RanSh tiff - I had made peace when it happened, but like a lot of other things in TBP that time, I was not conpletely satisfied with the KiShaRa patchup. They had so much hurt, so many UNADRESSED issues, such less convos or realisations or confrontations, but suddenly one day they start hugging & singing "I love you, you love me, we are a happy family" ? đł. Truth is that, unlike the way the new writer had been portraying them, RanSh are actually two individuals with different ideologies & personalities. I see this track as the first big test which will bring them closer to being bonded as friends for life. I am sorry, but I dont see helping one get a GF as such a factor. The only difference this time around is that its become KD's test this time, atleast at this point . we don't know how the campaigning process will affect RV in the future. I see a whole lot of scope for KD, as an individual, to have a good character development track, & I couldn't ask for more.
KiSha...no, I wouldn't say its the same thing. The whole breaking up over stupid things & hugging the next day & making up was repetitive, but I personally feel that this ain't the same. Its a clash of ideologies this time, something which we haven't seen in KiSha before, & something which I find a much better reason for a tiff between a couple of KiSha's calibre, rather than over KD forgetting Kiya's bday. This, & a Kiya track centred around her NOT being the damsel in distress, & rather an individual doing something for herself are two things for which I have been yearning since AGES.
And I really don't see anything wrong with Kiya supporting RV. CCTV cameras DO make students uncomfortable, even in the real world. I myself would have been if they were in my school, & not because I want to romance my BF. Who says they are Kiya's only reasons to not support CCTVs? When she says they are an infringement to her privacy, that doesn't mean she only means romancing KD. Ab aise mein if she sees defence classes, which IS an important lesson & more useful in the OUTSIDE world, as something which makes her feel safer, & decides to support it, then whats wrong in it? Saying that it was ok for Kiya to have her own thoughts, but that she should support KD to not hurt him is just a roundabout way of saying that she should support KD, even if she has different thoughts, just because he is her boyfriend, ignoring her own ideologies đł
VeeNi tiff isn't really a highlighted track, so it doesn't really affect the overall track too much. Haan...if this leads to some RV-Ruku-Panchi development, toh baat alag hai.
Basically, I love this track because, this is by far the best S2 track after Panchi's Ms Vista one. I love it because those promising beginnings, which had been left midway, are being revived & continued again, because after months we finally have a track, which involves all the Buddies, & their viewpoints & involves a proper issue rather than just revolving around love tracks, because I see in it ample scope for great char dev for BOTH KD & Kiya individually, because this is the best KiSha track IMO, this season, ever since they stopped fighting, it is going like all I wanted, touchwood. Because JeeMi are being portrayed the way I had wanted them in the beginning of S2, grey shaded characters, trying to use RanSh as pawns in their game against each other, because I see the old TBP again & because all of the above are the things which I have been screaming for since the past two months.
