Respect women, parents: Ranbir Kapoor
How do you feel at Patna?
Great, I haven't seen so much of love and support anywhere else. I really want to come here with my every film.
You are now carrying the Kapoor legacy on your shoulder. How does it feel?
It feels great. I never feel pressure. In fact, I have a sense of responsibility as my family has been contributing to Indian cinema for over 85 years. It is very important for me to develop my own identity with my hard work, views and things I want to do because it is very tough to come out of the shadow of my father, grandfather and my mother. I hope I can make a small space for myself in the industry. I think my parents will be happy if they are called Ranbir Kapoor's parents.
You have worked with your parents for the first time. How was that?
Initially, I was very nervous and anxious. 'Sabka nightmare hota hai apne parents ke sath kaam karne ka.' The toughest scene for me was saying to papa 'gende', 'mote', 'dharti pe bojh'. It was scary as I never look papa in his eyes and using abusive words for him was embarrassing. But papa was very encouraging and supportive. On the set, I never felt like acting with my parents. It was like I was their father. But 'yeh pehli baar tha jab maine apne papa ki aankhon ka rang dekh liya tha. Usse pehle kabhi dekha nahi tha.'
You are closer to your mother or father?
I am closer to mummy. It's because at the time when we were growing up, papa was always busy with shooting films.
How much influence she has on your life?
She doesn't influence my life or decision. Mummy and papa do not tell me what to do and what not to do. When I was starting my character, papa told me only one thing: "Don't let success go into your head and failure reach your heart".
A lot has been said about your relationship with Katrina.
I am a bachelor. So, many times, spotlight shifts from my work to personal life. But, I try to protect my personal life and talk more about my work. I will inform the world when I get married.
Any plan of getting married in near future?
No, I don't have any such plan.
You once said you can give your life for Katrina as she is very special to you?
I took the names of all my friends who are special to me but since she is a popular actress, only her name was highlighted.
So, Katrina is only a friend of yours?
Yes.
Deepika once said, "I don't care whoever Ranbir's is dating, whoever he marries. We share something special." What is that something special?
I don't know but what I can say is that the girl I marry will be special in my life.
Any message for Patnaites?
Respect your parents and women. Actually, I don't think I have done much in life to preach but I would say, "Be a good human being and watch my films".
