FF: Unspoken part 27

Arnav glanced at Khushi from the corner of his eye. He almost chuckled at her worried expression. It had been almost three weeks since the shooting and while he felt confident enough to do just about anything, Khushi always had her eyes on his every move. "You don't need to look so scared. I'm fine - really." He said as he walked to the kitchen for lunch and heard her quiet footsteps behind him. He began to lift his arm to get a plate from the cupboard but felt a petite hand wrap around his bicep and pull it down. "I'll get it," she said and took one down.

While Khushi sat across from Arnav as he ate away, Akash came strolling inside. "Do you want something to eat?" Khushi asked and he shrugged his shoulders in a why-not manner.

Arnav had already told Akash about handing over some responsibility to Vijay the night he made his decision. Although Akash felt neglected, he didn't let it get to him completely. He felt worse for Arnav because he blindly believed the man with the deceptive mask that portrayed kindness on the outside but whose intentions just didn't seem right.

"How is Vijay handling things?" Arnav asked while Khushi put a plate of warm food in front of Akash. His friend shook his head with pursed lips. "He's doing his job: going around to make sure everyone is behaving, though I must say, he's particularly annoying with his constant visits to my shop."

"Has anyone complained about him?" Arnav questioned curiously because Akash's tone didn't seem normal.

Akash let the spoon fall back down to the plate - albeit too loudly in frustration - and lifted his eyes to Arnav. "No one likes Vijay here. Their patience is in tact only in respect for you."

Arnav turned his attention to Khushi, signaling her to leave the room. He noticed her irritation by her narrowing eyes, but she complied anyways.

"I already explained to you that this is very temporary! I'm going to be back out there in a week!"

"He's just such a senseless man. I bet he'd easily start a fight with a Sadasyan if he ever crosses them. Does he even know where the treaty line starts from?" Akash asked in an accusatory tone and Arnav's clenched teeth suggested he watch the way he spoke because he wasn't impressed by his tone.

"He has strict instructions to follow - he's not allowed anywhere near Sadasya." Arnav said through gritted teeth.

Akash blankly stared at Arnav before he subtly shrugged his shoulders as a way to show that he was going to back down. "Okay." They spent the rest of the time quietly eating their food.

*

Becoming utterly annoyed with the fact that he hadn't paid any heed to her special day, Khushi stormed in their room while Arnav was sitting on the bed and playing a card game. She groaned at the sight. He went from being a macho beast to a little old man.

She sat on the bed, scattering his cards away. "Khushi!" He roared but she didn't mind to ignore his reaction, but rather showed her own angry expression. "How can you be so inconsiderate?"

His brows popped up. "How dare you speak to me like that?" he asked making her roll her eyes and making him fume even more. "Khu-"

"What Khushi, Khushi? I know my name! Do you not know what day it is today?"

"What day is it?" Arnav asked in crude and loud tone.

"My birthday! I'm 23 today!" She exclaimed and her expression changed to a shocked one when he casually said, "So?"

"No wish? No present?"

"Are you a child? In any way, we don't celebrate birthdays in this house." He shrugged off, aggravating Khushi even more. "No birthdays? Fine, don't celebrate it, at least wish me!"

Arnav grimaced. "I'm so happy 23 years ago, you were born on this day," he said in a sarcastic tone but he didn't realize until that second how serious she was. Her sudden frown indicated that his joke wasn't very funny.

"Fine. Don't you even think about giving me anything now. If you don't care, then I don't care either." She got up and left the room leaving Arnav baffled. What was the big deal about birthdays anyways?

*

"Akash," Vijay called out in a snarly tone as he walked into the shop. He was slightly wet from the rain outside but when duty called; duty called. "How was business today?" He asked with a sarcastic smile while Akash kept his mouth closed or else the only reply Vijay would be getting was rudeness. He locked the glass cases and took a couple boxes from the front of the shop to the backroom before locking that door too.

"Listen buddy, if you're ever tight on money, you can ask me and I'll give it to you. It would really go well towards the newer jewelry trends."

Akash stopped in his tracks and furrowed his eyebrows at Vijay. "I'm not your buddy and I'm never going to ask for your money. Unlike you, I'm not someone who's dying to have the entire world at my feet."

"It's quite a boring life without having much," Vijay retorted and watched Akash's expression with wide anticipating eyes. If he irritated Akash, Akash would take the problem to Arnav and considering the relationship Arnav and Vijay had lately, Arnav wouldn't take his friend's complaints with a quiet nod. It was all about the end goal for Vijay and he'd be willing to do anything for it.

"I like the life I have because at least I won't die trying to have something I can't. Live in the moment, Vijay. No one promises you tomorrow," Akash said pitifully. He stood by the entrance door and waited for Vijay to leave first before he locked up the shop and walked home in the rain without looking back once.

*

The deafening claps of thunder and the blinding flashes of lightening began to frighten Khushi. She turned on her back and held Arnav's arm securely to herself, hiding her face by his shoulder. The jerky motion made Arnav immediately open his eyes.

"What's wrong?" He overlapped her hand that was curled around his upper arm. "I think it's the end of the world," she said in a small voice and shuddered when another booming sound of thunder went off. Arnav shook his head with a reassuring smile. "This is normal. Don't worry."

While she turned and curled into his good side, Arnav stared out into the window and although it was pitch black, a thought came to his mind. This kind of rain would mean just the perfect morning. He kissed the top of Khushi's head before drifting off to sleep. He was suddenly excited for her surprise.

*

His eyes abruptly opened and he looked at the clock on the wall. 6:30 am. Perfect timing. He shook Khushi awake. "Come with me," he said as he got up. She sat up right and stared at him incredulously. "Where are you going?"

"Khushi, no questions! I said come!" he hissed and hastily yet very quietly left the house. He waited for her to catch up before he took her hand and led her far - to a place she'd never been.

She couldn't even keep track of all the paths they took but in the end, she didn't care. With the biggest waterfall in clear view, right in front of it was also the most magnificent rainbow she'd ever seen.

"Oh my Lord..." she was completely awe struck. She turned her head to look at Arnav even though the sun was starting to catch her eye. "This is gorgeous!" She said happily and stared back off to the colorful sight. She felt Arnav's arm embrace her shoulders as he pulled her close to his chest. "A late birthday gift - I'll try to do better next time."

Khushi looked up with her mouth wide open. "Arnav this is perfect! You've shown me something I've never seen before - I absolutely love it!" She wound her arms around his waist and placed her head against his chest. She blinked away the happy tears that came to her eyes. He'd gifted her in a beautiful way and now it was her turn to surprise him.

"Arnav..." She started and heard a soft hmm' from him. She pulled away to crank her head back to stare up at him. "I hope you remember how to take care of a baby," she said with a sneaky smile and she saw his expression change from confusion to realization. "Are you actually?" He asked all too excitedly. She nodded her head before she felt his strong yet gentle hands on either side of her face. "I'll do everything I can to be the best father."

She held onto the sides of his waist and grinned wide. "I don't doubt it - Adi loves you incredibly."

"Adi," Arnav started chuckling. "He's going to be an uncle - at this age?!" He laughed in delight before pulling Khushi in for a tight hug. They watched the last couple moments of the rainbow as their hearts beat wildly at the thought of their future with a baby to call their own - a baby to symbolize their love that proved to be stronger than hate.

Omg...please don't kill me! Trust me, even I can't believe I've taken so darn long to update! But would you believe me when I say that every time something stopped me?

As you guys can tell, Akash is like Arun and Vijay is like Surya. They are NOT related. It's just going to show how greed will lead to extreme enmity. I know from experience how easy it is to fall for a facade. And it hurts a lot when you find out that the person was lying the entire time but like I once mentioned, no one wants anything more than trust and peace with one another so that's why Arnav is falling for Vijay's masked side. Unfortunately, Arnav will be hit hard in the end.

I really hope you guys haven't ditched me yet! Just hang in there! The climax is coming, meaning the story will come to an end. Not for another few parts so you guys can either groan from annoyance or sigh with relief. haha.

Again, forgive me for taking forever but I do appreciate so much how you guys kept asking for an update. Thank you for your patience with my hectic life. Love you all! ❤️ 🤗

The ending of this chapter was beautiful. I was pretty mad at Arnav for ignoring her birthday. But better late than never, eh?
I'm disliking Vijay more and more every passing chapter. I read your note and shuddered. I hope Arnav is able to face the challenges that will face him. Has Vijay thought of what this will do to his wife?
Thanks for the update. Waiting...
