She is most welcome

Rohit Vats: Aishwarya's last film before the sabbatical was Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Guzaarish', for which she received accolades at several award ceremonies. 'Enthiran' had also come in the same year, which means she was one of the best box-office baits at that time. She has remained in the public view throughout her pregnancy, so the issue of her being forgotten is also out of the frame.

Shomini Sen: She might have been a popular actress five years back but as of now, that place has been taken over. While her role in 'Happy Anniversary' is not known yet but would she be getting meaty roles post baby and marriage? Doubtful.

Charu Thakur: Aishwarya is indeed popular; there is no denying the fact. And, most of her fans want to see her back on screen and with her comeback wagon 'Happy Anniversary' we can hope that she is able to make the impression yet again. But that seems a far fetched idea as of now with many divas reigning over Bollywood.

She should reconsider her decision

Rohit: One thing that can go against her comeback is her image. Traditionally, the Hindi film audience is not very receptive towards the married heroines.

Shomini: I hope her role in 'Happy Anniversary' is as good as Sridevi's in 'English Vinglish'. Then one can safely say that, yes, Ash is here to stay.

Charu: Well, movie goers are accepting married women like Kareena and Vidya Balan. But, Aishwarya has been away from the silver screen for a long time and with the new breed of actresses like Deepika and Anushka ruling the roost, I don't think many would be interested to see Aishwarya's comeback.

Times are changing. And a star like Aishwarya Rai is always in demand

Rohit: She is still among the most popular and downloaded celebrities on internet. This gives a hint that her fan base is still intact.

Shomini: But in a male dominated industry how many roles are written keeping in mind the leading heroine? Also, barring some senior actors and her husband, Abhishek Bachchan, she hardly has heroes to work with.

Charu: Aishwarya Rai is indeed popular and people might want to see her again on screen. But there is no denying the fact that she would not get the desired roles.

Will Aishwarya be able to stay put in Bollywood in her second innings?

Rohit: Bollywood rarely comes up with stories like 'English Vinglish' which suits the actor's real age. And, the audience has evolved a lot in recent times.

Shomini: If she chooses off beat, artsy films, then it will be a wise decision on her part. Let Aishwarya create a niche for herself. She is still influential internationally so she can afford to take risks.

Charu: She would be able to make a mark only if she gets to play meaty roles. People are now more receptive but then you have to give them something extraordinary for them to accept you again.

I guess she will be heavily compared to Sri Devi and her film with EV, if and when it all takes off. Pretty interesting points, but I want her back and in a good project. *fingers always crossed*

She has very limited Actors for her come back ... It has to be either with Khans .. Akshay ,roshan or her husband. It has to have a strong script like Kaahani or English vinglish more focused on her. hmmm i dnt see her comeback soon.
Right now its all young actors ruling.

Times and audiences have changed, and Sridevi being accepted def proves that. Even Madhuri has 2-3 films lined up, the hope is there.
I really hate it when older actresses are written off, they have AS MUCH right to rule as the Khans, Amitabh, and the older actors.
With that said, Aishwarya has to be smart, IMO, she should have comeback with HYN. Even if her role was that of a flowerpot. The success of that movie at the box office woudlve helped her (not that she needs help)
But then again, Aishwarya is not concerned for the box office. Shes the only actress who is as known and popular as she is despite having flop films. Even her flop films are a rage. What other actress would have the guts to do a Raincoat at the peak of her career?

@Shaitan: agreed. but sucks is that she rejected HYN--the buzz/hype around her pairing with SRK after like 11 years hope have been great. But she isn't someone who likes those types of roles so I def didn't see her taken that on, plus me thinks she doesn't wanna do a movie with Abhi in it if she's not paired opposite him. It's a bogus reason but that's why she didn't do Dostana.

And totally agree with you about the writing off thing. The women get a lot more than the men, which sucks too b/c age catched up with everyone--even the men.

Yeah they could have captivated on the SRK-Ash pairing. That could have started a trend and we could have seen older actresses being paired with Khans and all as well.
IMO Madhuri and Sri look way better than the Khans, in terms of their age, they look pretty good for their age. I also hate the excuse that there are no roles for older actresses, of course there is! There is so much that can be done and I hope directors cash in on that. It doesn't always have to be a love story about 20 year olds, there is so much more to life, so many untold stories.
I blame Bollywood for being creatively disabled, there is so much more than can be explored.

@Bold... Didn't Rani have Black when she was at the peak of her career?
Kareena had Chameli and many more other actresses..???

But glad to hear that Aish is coming back to the big screen...

I'm glad she is coming back to work.. but why with Abhishek.. she has done plenty of movies with him..and there is no chemistry at all, boring. why not try John, Saif..The best would be Hrithik. But the chances are little.
