I agree. It's very sad actually..I feel for Motwane, he's such a brilliant director and if I were in his place I'd find the audience's response to Lootera very mind boggling and discouraging. A lot of people don't have the patience to watch a Lootera, nor do they appreciate things like cinematography, subtlety, art etc. I honestly don't even think Lootera's pace was that big of a problem like some made it out to be, I have had trouble watching films like Saawariya, Black, Guzaarish etc BECAUSE of the pace artsy factor, storyline etc..yet with Lootera that was not the case at all. Not to mention, the performances were brilliant. Sonakshi and Ranveer are fairly, fairly new yet they did an amazing job. So, kind of discouraging for them as well. Though I'm very happy that the critics loved the film..at least some people gave it its due.
I wish Motwane continues making such cinema because if there's a huge chunk of people that prefer stuff like masala movies/sex comedies etc then there's indeed a portion of audiences that would prefer watching a Lootera or an Udaan anyday.

Off-topic but this post reminded me of last week's Salman's rant to Shahid on how Andaz apna apna failed at BO but is still remembered fondly even today. He was blaming the audience ki movie jaake theatre mein kyu nahi dekhi itna classic tha toh.😆

I just wish for all the excruciating times that the whole team of Lootera went though paid them off.I felt that while watching Lootera moments on tv recently they mentioned about how the whole team had to shoot for this film thrice etc.. I dont think VAM ever aimed for box office success.. he's been through this with Udaan. Awards for Lootera may encourage him to continue his good work though.

Regarding Grand Masti striking a gold mine, its really surprising bcuz even the promos and production value looked so outdated.. I guess its all about Entertainment, entertainment and entertainment in a dirty way that counts for the audience.

I hope Lootera at least gets a cult status in coming years.
Am buying a Blu Ray for this film as soon as it releases.
