A 😎

hamein ghat jaana hai! Abhi! =)
such is impact of the picture you paint, that it not only makes me visualize but feel the serenity of that scene , of whats going on in the hearts of Arnab and Khushi.
That Khushi spoke about the ongoing affairs in the country, I 'd guess it gives a glimpse of the woman that she 'd be. One never knows! She may partake in building the road to India s' independance.. Angrezo Bharat chhodo! 😡
yeah. Alright.
And there was such bond which formed between them that as Arnab says, that what she saw in his eyes , she'd understand when the time comes. They'l visit this moment for years to come that ll give them hope that they'll be like this, sitting together, again someday. Now considering tough times are here..
Seldom things happen as planned.. What he'd thought that he'l take Khushi with him and here he had to leave even before he started practicing as a doctor..

Arnab is such a good writer too! 😃 The way he expressed was beautiful.
Such a caring man!

The scene where he felt that way for his father and then leaves was so well written..

How cute Khushi looked doing that thing with pallu and keys in front of the mirror :)

now what will happen?! Il cry Jenny! Please tell me Pranab will be wise enough. Khushi would be lonely and vulnerable and m scared..

Res
Am all caught up😊

Edit

I must admit Jenny that I am usually not attracted to time period stories however this was has looped me in. Despite an age difference ( that was quite common in that era) you have managed to make their relationship interesting.

Reading about this Arnab and Khushi is captivating. Despite Khushi being a teen she has matured considerably from the girl with the doll.

It's quite obvious that she is infatuated with Arnab and vice versa. I am eager to see how Pranab wi complicate things for this couple and hopefully Arnab will take Khushi with him. If he leaves her behind she will be simply heartbroken.

Looking forward to the next chapter :)

~Edit~

"Today she stands on the brink of womanhood, where she is neither a child nor a woman. A short lived twilight phase to gently transition the innocent brightness of a day into the intriguing beauty of a starry night. I can be the catalyst to this transition, but do I want to be? "
That is just the point, isn't it? And I admire Arnab for even questioning himself in this manner, rather than thinking on the lines of staking his claim over his rights as a "husband". Khushi is truly lucky, to have been married to a man as honorable as him in that time, a man who cares for her childhood.

The scene at the footsteps of the ghat was so serene and beautiful... lyrical. Enveloped in love and tenderness, that is a moment I am sure the two of them will treasure, a memory to revisit to get through the difficult times. And you also highlighted the fact that she possesses a sharp and astute mind, that is able to process and understand the things that are happening around her.. except perhaps the matters of the heart 😛 And Arnab has also noted this, another wonderful facet of his young wife.

Khushi's growth from the child with a doll, to this child-woman who feels like her Arnab's wife has been so seamless. Arnab has allowed her the time to naturally grow into this phase of life and now she has come to a point where she worships the ground he walks on. He has managed to earn her unwavering faith in him.

Oh, but the end! He was planning to take her with him earlier, right? And then this! My poor dear Khushi, and Arnab is also miserable without her. Will he take his bride with him this time? I'm worried... 😒

But the update was lovely, Jenny. I felt like I was basking in the glow of warm sunshine and a light breeze at the bank of a river, such is the beauty of your words 😊

PS - The Non-Cooperation was not unsuccessful, in fact it was far from it. It shook up the British forces. The reason for all the frustration was Gandhi's untimely revocation of the Movement following a violent incident at the Chauri-Chaura police station. Many (including me) still feel that had Gandhi not done that, India would have achieved independence a lot earlier.

Jenny,

The following was written so beautifully that I read it again and again and again.

It was two monsoons ago that she had come into my life like the fragrance of rain soaked Jasmine flowers that the wind brought to me. With her doll held tightly and soaked from head to toe, she had embarked totally unprepared on the road to womanhood. A rough journey begun too soon in my opinion and accelerated no doubt by my immense frustration at myself, at my physical needs and at this society but which I inadvertently directed towards her on that ill-fated night. Today she stands on the brink of womanhood, where she is neither a child nor a woman. A short lived twilight phase to gently transition the innocent brightness of a day into the intriguing beauty of a starry night. I can be the catalyst to this transition, but do I want to be?

Indeed Khushi is growing into a beautiful woman. She is not the girl who walked into Arnav's life with a doll. She let the doll go, she is studying, picking up ropes of household, embroidery and she is not behind the political situation of the country. As she is growing up, her feelings for Arnab are growing too. It's like her being is for Arnab only, yet she has a mind of her own too. She is effortlessly blending into his life and the day is not far when she will be a "wife" to Arnab in every sense, ably standing by him.

Unknown to Arnab Khushi has become a key driver in his life. His instinct to protect her and the thriving emotions for her are helping him to make decisions, be strong and make right decisions. It's heartwarming to see that Khushi has made an entry into his journal as well heart and Arnab being so cautious of her sensitive his actions towards her. Though the responsibility of steering their relationship is on Arnab, I think Khushi will play and equal role in it, eventually. She may be the one who will give the push when Arnab is hesitant in their relationship.

The moments they spent on steps by the river were so calming. As if they were comforting each other.

Oh! I felt so bad for Khushi. Even before she came to Arnab's house or even knew how he looked, she has been worshipping him and made him sole reason of her living. And suddenly knowing that he left without telling her and that she won't be seeing him every day, it's heartbreaking.

I hope Arnab takes her with him. I am seeing Arnab leaving the house as a turning point. May be, now their relationship will grow faster.
