Arshi loved your bytes. I just checked out the episode now and like you said now I am confused as to what the Cv's are trying to tell us. Is it that Pramad is going to become good and Kumud gets her pati and pyaar in him but the priest says Saras and Kumud's hearts are bound so are we moving to the next phase ? @Ivyji loved your analysis, agreed the Cv's are testing the waters. It has been a TRP play right from the time the show got into this new PH's hands and if we see from TRP audiences perspective they are doing a good job. The show was slow for many people when it was with SLB but nowadays it is daily masala, heartbreaks and twists. @hggbai enjoyed reading your post. Kumud can love only Saras, live with only him PERIOD. She is the DIL of this house and wife for Pramad only for her in-laws sake, her mind wouldn't allow her to have any physical relationship with Pramad. Now going forward if this too changes then I will see only darkness in SC. As Ivy said we have to see what she is going to do when Saras goes away. Can someone tell me was Kumud's character like this in the novel as well ? I remember Samarth used to say Saras is the weak one but here we see Kumud is the never ending compromising one and as far as I know she didn't try to reform Pramad in the novel, did she ?

Maybe because I have not seen most of the previous 10 odd epis properly...missed most & seen some basis your Bytes in FF mode..

But I just can't place kumud and her atmasamman logic at this stage...

1) Take all off the bruises / blood / limping etc. shown in the previous epi...
Apparently she sobs and cries making it out as if Pramad has beaten her up...
But if you see the epi...ALL of it is due to her hysterics...falling down, running away etc. etc. when Pramad tried to get physical with her...All the injuries are due to her panic running away actions...

This time Pramad did not hit her or anything.
Why is that point not being clarified?

2) I do not in anyway justify the attempted marital rape connotation or DV which gets shown on SP.

But come on...
a) On one hand she says I want to make the marriage work, saras get out, kalika get out etc.
Now a marriage is going to involve sharing a physical relationship with Pramad...
This is an arranged marriage...she went into it with her eyes open and that she does not now have the liberty of falling in love with him, creating the emotional connect and then starting a physical relationship...

b) And on the other hand each time Pramad tries to get physical she runs away / tries to run away...Then at that stage she wants a meeting of minds / emotional bonding first...

NOW
For emotional bonding to work, each time Pramad says something she gets into either her teacher mode and starts lecturing & hectoring Or gets into a mouse mode...For her to achieve her objective of (a) and/or (b) shouldn't she be attempting to reach out...what is her strategy? Nothing!

As if Pramad will wake up one day and start loving her!

And then she resents Pramad and Kalika's physical relationship?

I am with Kalika on this...What is Kumud offering to Pramad as an alternative to Kalika? Nothing!!!!
...Neither a beginning of a physical relationship (Pramad - Kalila relationship is largely this)...
...Nor any sort of emotional / mental relationship (irrespective of Kalika's intent, from Pramad's perspective Kalika is offerign this in loads & loads) or attempts to build emotional relationship...
...Most of the time she is looking down on him...turning her nose up on Pramad...

How can she demand equality when she herself is not providing the same to Pramad or even trying to?

So what is her definiition of atmasamman? How does that come in the way?

Why in the name of God does she not state the thing upfront?

1) THAT she is in love with Saras still...despite all the crap starting with Saras and all her high brow logic.
2) THAT is why beginning a physical relationship with another person is utterly revolting to her...screw all the DV / marital rape thing...even if Pramad was the most gentle person she would still feel revolted.
3) THAT is why no one measure up or ever will against Saras...and why she lectures or looks down.
4) THAT it is Heart over Mind. Game over.
5) F*** all the other reasons...
6) She will seperate from Pramad...

This will make all the 4 people (good or bad) suffering due to her shitty logic most happy!

and most of all...Her!!

So all this atmasamman mumbo - jumbo is just that...utter crap and trying to force-fit another set of high brow sounding words into the narrative..

Have a different view on why she cant get into a physical relationship with Pramad.

Yes, now a days she wanted it to work and work 'her way'. But, if we see she entered this marriage with an open mind. On day 1 she was jolted by Pramad in a way that was so nasty. About to be thrown off into a ditch and all.

Since then it has been a tussle. So each time he tries to get physical with her, he is explicit that he means no good intentions.

If we view through the prism of her heart being with Saras, it sounds correct too. Has been shown a lot of times in movies. When this kind of a sudden marriage happens. People seek time to get comfortable.

She is shown responding to Pramad in the promo. So that shows she is trying.

I'm only talking about physical relationship part. Otherwise, yes for Kumud everything is a prize or a trophy. Every situation is seen through a prism of winning. And she attaches promises(now its promise to SD and BD that she will change their son). She forced marriage on Kalika and smiled as if she was doing a huge faor in her welfare.

You have it spot on there Shana! These are my thoughts exactly. Kalika with all her dhamkis and ways was never gonna go away forever.

Pramaad will find out that Naveen is Saras and then begin his game of 'achaa bachaa'.

Kumud will go running back cos of the whole financial situation of Desais. Not sure why she cant use her brains and education to get a job back at the school and help financially instead of thinking her going away will be one less bhoj for Desai's. Wah SP WAH! keep on promoting the ideas into pple's head that daughters are nothing but a bhoj and where parents cant afford to keep them the answer is to marry them off etc.

Our batti gul Kumud too will obv not be able to use her dimaag and think that itana kuch paraa meine..let me put it to use. Why cant it be shown that a daughter too can be a sahara for her parents..I dont understand.

Saras - I think he will hang about at BD mansion cos isnt he working there for BD? so until all that isn't sorted he will hang around.

The entire epi to me is a blur cos all I keep thinking about is the precap! I am now seriously yearning for SAMUD re union. The fact that they cant embrace one another, she wouldnt even let him support her down the stairs...let him hold her hand..all this is killing me!

They can atleast show some dream moments...why is it so wrong for a woman who has an abusive husband to want to then be with someone else...to accept someone else...SP jaago...made all these big claims at the SP awards and havent seen a single one take effect...

The problem is for the story to develop they have to show all this. SAMUD re union potentially means the story is over or means a masive change in the story.

so what can we do now...SAMUD becoming one is a distant possibility..until then we have to watch the circus!

Ivy you have got everyone thinking yet again! I just wanna elaborate on the above point made by Annete..

somewhere SP always start out in their shows showing a woman as a fighter...in many shows this has happened..woman carries on without the need of a man..while the man is cheating her or be it that the vamp is out to get her family..she has always been the strong opinionated one who is great at lecturing pple..but I am afraid thats all they are great at! the bhaashan baazi!

Here we see Kumud finally taking a stance...she now regrets that she did not do something about it before but weren't pple telling her to leave him ages ago? she gave him the benefit of doubt still. All that bhaashan baazi to Pramad! it was great! Yet again SP's woman does triumph.

But all will fall flat very soon! you are right that all the shows show the need of a man but then again no one really wants to watch a show where a woman is there fighting and being all independant and yeah doesnt need a man in her life.

They show that and we would be demanding that the poor girl needs someone in her life! Yes she shudnt put up with such domestic violence and SP will keep this in line and make out that oh look at our 'nayi soch'. Woman stood up to the man. He is now a 'changed' man and wont lay a finger on her.

My problem is bigger than that. Its how they are portraying that marriage is the end and be all. Until the husband dies you should be in it. Kumud has tried...she doesn't love Pramad but yet she is expected to give it a 2nd chance once Pramad becomes a goody two shoes. What is the point of a marriage where there is no love.

Yes love can happen after two individuals get married but here she tried and she failed. SP showing that she goes back to him is a big slap to women. just goes to show that divorce is still a taboo.

A nayi soch would be SP showing that where there is no love...its ok to move on from that person. You dont have to stay married and be friends for life.

Hgg bhai..you have hit the nail on the head here..something I briefly mentioned in my earlier post you have said in much detail..Kumud does not love Pramad and all these are mere excuses.

I am not sure I agree with you on that Pramad was not to blame for her physical state.

A marriage's first and foremost rule is Respect and Pramaad does not respect her. He hasn't let her emotionally in...(unless I missed that part somehow).

Even when she has tried to look him in the eye..he has demeeaned her.

He wants a physical relationship but women who are not happy with this and succumb to it..to me that is rape as that is unwillingly so yes she is right that they need to be on the same level emotionally first.

He has not made any such attempts. She hasn't made much of an attempt either but he has never really given her an opportunity to do so.

In my eyes...Pramad is at fault more than Kumud. Kumud isn't any greater or wiser...She made a mistake in agreeing to marry Pramad...

You are right that if he was a gentle person..she still wouldn't have allowed for a physical relation but I think mentally, on a platonic level she wouldve made an effort.

But to me even that is wrong! She will never love Pramad and for SP to show that for a marriage..friendship is enough..its wrong.

Can her love for Saras be replaced? I hope not.
