A/n: Hello everyone! I am back with another OS.

This is another family story but without Dilshad or Najma in it. I couldn't really fit them into the story so you can all assume that they have gone somewhere!

So, here comes the fluff!

I was sitting in Asad's office going over the details for the presentation when he came through the door, looking worried. Asad and I have been married for over about seven years. After our wedding, we both thought that it will be good for me to join Dilshad Constructions. I worked along with my handsome hubby to help him with his presentations, company's website and things. I took leave from the company when we discovered that I was pregnant with our first child. But now that our little baby girl herself is five and has started school, I decided to join Asad once again, if even for just the time Mahek was at school.

I looked at Asad who had just entered the room with the phone in his hand. He looked troubled. "What is it? Why do you look so worried?"

He sighed, "Its Mahek. The school called, she is sick. One of us has to go down there to get her."

I was up and out of my seat the moment he has uttered Mahek's name. "I am going to go right now. You have to be here. The presentation looks good to me. I'll call or text you once I have her home and settled, okay?" I looked at him as I collected my purse, mobile and car keys.

He nodded at me but looked so forlorn. I knew the reason for his expression. He absolutely hated when his little princess got sick. Of course I did too, but Asad goes crazy. Moreover, she always demanded her Abbu whenever she was sick. My poor babies.

I walked over to Asad and said, "She is fine, Asad, just fever, right? Don't worry, okay?"

"Yeah" he said dejectedly, "Just tell her that I'll be home very soon okay? And, take my car - her car seat is in the SUV." He handed me his car keys.

I grabbed the keys from and palmed his worried face, "Just concentrate on the meeting, okay? Love you." I quickly pecked lips and rushed out of the office.

***

I threw the car into park in the nearest parking stall that I found and rushed inside the school. The lady at front desk looked up at me as I ran inside.

"Good afternoon, Ma'am. How can I help you?" she asked me.

"I am here to pick my daughter, Mahek Khan. My husband was informed that she is sick." I explained it to her.

"Yes, Mrs. Khan. I have her name here. Just as the procedure, can I have a look at any of your ID, please?" she inquired.

I shrugged off my bag from my shoulder as I nodded at her. Rummaging through the bag, I finally managed to grab my wallet and took my driver's license out. She looked over the license and then opened a file and checked something off of it.

"If you could just wait for a second, I'll go get you daughter." She told me and moved out of her seat. As she went to get Mahek, I couldn't help but pace around in the hall. When they did not return for a couple of minutes, I was about to barge ahead and give them a piece of my mind. What in the world was taking it so long? My baby was sick for crying out loud!

Before I could take a step further, I saw the lady coming back, holding my baby girl's backpack while Mahek herself walked after her. Mahek's face was red and blotchy, which told me that she had been crying. My poor baby! Without waiting anymore, I rushed forward and took my darling into my arms. She immediately circled her arms around my neck and wrapped her tiny legs around my waist.

"Oh, honey. How do you feel, sweetie?" I asked my angel.

She put her head in the crook of my neck and mumbled against my skin, "My tummy hurts, Ammi. I frew up."

"You threw up?" I clarified. She nodded at me and settled even closer to me.

I looked at the lady at the desk and asked her if I was free to take Mahek home. Upon her yes, I quickly took her to the car and got her strapped in her booster seat. She did not complain once about being a big girl now. Must be really tired and low on energy.

We reached home relatively fast since there was not much traffic during this time of the day. Unbuckling my baby from her car seat, I carried her drowsy form inside. I unlocked the door and padded directly to our room. I knew from previous experiences that she like to lay down in our bed when she felt ill. I put her in the bed and went to her room to get her pajamas.

As I re-entered the room, I saw that she was blinking and trying to get her bearings.

"Mahek, love? Let's get you out of those clothes, honey. I have you favorite jammies here!" I cooed.

She sat up and looked at me. Nodding her head to show that she understood me, she lifted her hand to let me peel off her clothes, "I feel icky, Ammi. Princess jammies?" she asked me. I smiled at her and nodded. Of course I had gotten her precious Sleeping Beauty night dress. She was going through her princess' phase and Asad was whole-heartedly humoring her.

She looked around and in a teary voice, mumbled, "Abbu?"

I pressed my lips to her hair before those pearls could fall from her eyes. "Abbu is in the office, love. He was so worried about you but he has a very important thing at his office. He promised me that he will hurry home. Okay?"

"Alright," I said as I picked her up again. "Let's go get you properly tucked."

"Ammi, will you get baby Mahek?"

I smiled and got up. Baby Mahek was her little stuffed toy. Ayaan had gotten it for her on her last birthday. It was, by far, her most loved toy. She liked to repeat what I say to her to Baby Mahek. It was her baby.

"Of course I will."

I went over to grab the baby doll and then left her room and went back to our room. I went over to Asad's side of the bed, where she was laying and I had to smile when I pulled back the sheets and was hit with Asad's scent. I guess I knew why she liked to lay here. The comforting scent of her Abbu.

I put Baby Mahek next to her and then I pulled the covers up and tucked them around her. "I am going to right back okay? Let me get you some water." I kissed her warm cheeks.

As I walked into the kitchen I pulled my phone out of my pocket and typed out a quick text message to Asad. "I've got her home and tucked into our bed. - Z"

As I got back to the room with her water in my hand, I felt my phone vibrate in my pocket again.

"Thanks for letting me know. Call if u need anything. Love you both."

I went straight for the medicine cabinet and pulled out the thermometer and some chewable Tylenol tablets. I took the medicine back out into the bedroom with me. I walked over to the side of the bed she was laying on and sat down on the edge.

Fortunately, we had the electric ear ones so there wasn't any fuss. I pushed some of her hair out of the way and inserted the end of the thermometer into her ear and held down the button. It only took a few seconds for it to beep and then I pulled it out. 101. It was solid fever but at least it wasn't dangerously high.

I gave her the medicine and she took them begrudgingly. She made a disgusted face as she chewed them up but she didn't complain. Once I'd gotten some medicine in her and settled her in with her cup of water, I put in her favorite movie, The Sleeping Beauty, for her. I retrieved it from the movie closet in the living room and popped it into the DVD player in our room. I sat down on the bed to keep her company while she watched the movie.

"Ammi?" She asked in a soft voice.

"Yeah, sweetie?"

"Will you lay down with me, pwease?" She gave me those puppy dog eyes that I could never refuse.

"Of course, love." I said as I moved to get under the covers with her. I lay down and extended my arm to her. She scooted over closer to me and curled up into my side. I stroked and played with her hair absentmindedly while we watched the T.V. Right when I was starting to think that she might have fallen asleep she turned her head to look at me and spoke.

"Ammi, I like cuddlwing with you better. You're softer than Abbu."

I laughed at her words. How right she was! I often told Asad how hard his entire body was. Leaning onto him was like leaning against a wall.

She smiled weakly and then yawned. I could tell that the medicine was starting to kick in and her eyes were getting droopy. Sure enough, it didn't take long for her breathing to even out and for her to fall asleep.

I quietly slipped out of the bed and went into the living room but left the bedroom door open so that I would hear her if she called for me. I did other things that needed my attention while I waited for Asad to get home. It was about an hour later that I heard the door opening. I had started heading for the kitchen right as the door opened. Asad walked in all his hotness and smiled when he saw me.

"Hey, how's she doing?" he immediately questioned me.

"She's sleeping."

"Oh, good. Has everything been going okay?"

"Yeah, I gave her some water and medicine. I put on The Sleeping Beauty for her and she passed out pretty quickly."

He put his stuff down on the kitchen table and then came over and gave me a quick kiss before walking over to the pantry. "I hope we have something that will be easy on her stomach...she probably needs to eat when she wakes up. Do we have any soup? We should really be better prepared for a sick child..."

"Hey! Relax! It's alright! We do have soup. Don't worry. Why don't you go see her? I have to go the store. We need a few things." I said as I went to the table and grabbed the car keys from where he had put them down. I pecked his lips as he left for our room and I headed out.

***

At the store I got the essentials and the ingredients to make quick spaghetti for ourselves. I decided to get some Gatorade as well to keep her hydrated. When I got back home, I went directly to the kitchen and put all of my groceries down on the kitchen counter. I went in to the living room area and when I didn't see him I continued in to our bedroom. He wasn't in there either and neither was Mahek.

"Asad?" I called.

I didn't get any response so I walked back out into the living room and then went to look around the rest of the downstairs and walked down the hall towards Mahek's room. I could see that the light was on through the glass of the door. That must be where they were.

Asad was sitting in the corner of the room in the rocking chair. That chair was from her baby room and I used to nurse and rock her there was she was a baby. Asad was dressed in just a pair of cotton pajama pants with no shirt on. Mahek was curled up on his lap, wrapped in a blanket, with her cheek pressed against his bare chest. Her eyes were closed and she appeared to be asleep. Asad rocked her back and forth gently and was combing his fingers through her hair softly.

The site in front of me made me fall in love all over again. He was such a good father. All his fears about being a father were unfounded. We were both so lucky to have him. When he saw me he looked up and smiled weakly.

"Hey." He whispered.

"Hey," I replied in a whisper as I walked into the room. "Is she asleep?" As I got closer I could see that her skin was blotchy again. It looked like she'd been crying again and that thought made me frown.

"Yeah, she just fell asleep. She woke up right after you left and said was hungry so I gave her a piece of toast and she threw it up."

"Poor baby..." I mumbled in a whisper.

"I know. I hate it when she's sick. It makes me feel so helpless."

He looked down at her again and kissed her forehead. The love in the look on his face was so strong and sincere that I seriously was going to have to leave the room before either, A, I started to tear up. Or, B, I took Mahek off of his lap and jumped him, demanding that he surrender himself to me right there. A caring father? Oh yeah, so hot.

"I'm gonna go and start on our food." I told him, still speaking in a whisper. "I'm making spaghetti."

"That sounds delicious. Love you."

***

I jumped when I felt two hands on my waist from behind. "That smells fabulous..." He mumbled against my ear.

"Thank you. Now go sit down and I'll serve you." He dipped his head down to kiss my neck once and then let go of me. I put a lid on Mahek's soup to keep it warm and turned around and carried our dinner to the table. As I put our plated down I noticed the old baby monitor sitting on the table. I shook my head at his paranoia.

"For Mahek?"

"Um, that way, we can hear if she wakes up and throws up or something. If I can't hear her I start checking on her obsessively."

"The receiver on this one is turned off though so we can hear her but she can't hear us. And, I put her back in our bed." he explained.

I nodded at him and sat down and he pushed my chair in for me before kissing my head and taking his own seat. After dinner, I could tell that Asad was itching to go check on his angel. As I cleared the table and went to do the dishes, he took the soup and sneaked back into our room.

I checked the doors and windows of the house after my work was done and retreated to my family. It was only seven thirty, but I knew we were in for the night. In the room, I saw Mahek leaning against Asad's chest, Baby Mahek squished between them and the empty soup bowl on the nightstand. Asad's hands were smoothing her hair as he stroked her forehead.

"Abbu? Sing glwoden Slwumbers?"

Asad smiled at her and started humming Mahek's favorite lullaby. I gently padded over to my husband and sat next to him. He put his free arm around and pulled me on the bed by his other side. Kissing my lips, he whispered the lines that he was singing to our daughter.

'Golden slumbers,
Fill your eyes
Smiles await you when you rise
Sleep pretty darling
Do not cry
And I will sing a lullaby.'

A/n: Thank you for reading it!

Reviews are better than a cuddling, shirtless Asad! Leave me love!!
