no way the film was offered to shahid first... even looking at d character itself we can realise dat it wasnt anything made for shahid .. Anand had most prolly offered shahid tanu weds manu sequel, but Raanjhana , Dhanush was d first nd last choice, nd Anand even said dat even Dhanush wudnt agree, he wudnt make this film nd still try 2 convince Dhanush.

Anand L.Rai, the director of Tanu Weds Manu is surely a man on the hot seat today.

With Tanu Weds Manu becoming a runaway hit, all the eyes were set on his next film. News mills started working out overtime and churned out stories to a million stating that his next film will star Shahid Kapoor in lead.

Refuting these rumors, Shahid's publicist said, "Shahid is not in Anand Rai's next film. He is listening to lot of scripts but not signed anything yet."

Hope this puts an end to all the rumors!

Shahid was offered the film even before Sonam. He always wanted Shahid to play the role and it wasn't TWM 2. And why would Shahid not fit into the role of a Banarsi? They wouldn't have to put in the Tamil pandit part which was done to suit Dhanush's personality more than anything.

he came off as pretentious/ wanna be during this movies' promos, promotions. He doesnt have personality to pull off a movie like this, he is no salman.

he needs to do something similar to kaminey, his strength is in roles like JWM, kaminey. Otherwise, he is pretty much finished.

They say there are no secrets to success but it is the result of prep, hard work and learning from failure. Good he is failing... The more he fails, the stronger his stardom will be. It is not like he is in 40s yet ...

Nobody likes rejection and I doubt Shahid will take rejection lightly. I say, it's not only talk but if success in his destiny ... Nobody can take it away from him. ;)
