Part 9:
Last night I felt I saw as if there is a truth that has been hidden with the trivialities of life. It was like seeing the shimmer of gold underneath a bed of sand. I was determined to move this sand away and find the truth at any cost.
At 9:00AM, I got the house papers from Meghaji and went to the bank. I was not in favor of this idea of selling it, so we decided on mortgaging for time being. On reaching the bank, I showed the papers to the bank manager and told him that I would like to take a personal loan by mortgaging the house.
He took the papers from me and looked at them rather seriously. He looked up from the papers, frowned at me and went back to flipping the papers as if checking something. I couldn't stop but ask, "Is there something wrong?"
The bank manager replied, "I am not sure. I feel I saw these papers before. Just that I am not sure if the papers I saw were for this property. The name, Mohan Bhatnagar is very familiar though. Please wait for a while. Let me check with my colleague."
He went out and I was left wondering what he meant. He saw the papers before? Was the house used as guarantee before? As far as I knew, Sirji didn't have any loans or debt.
The bank manager entered the room, "Mr. Beera, It seems that we had processed a transaction with this property. But the people who dealt it are not here today. I only glanced through the papers then, so I can't be sure. To avoid any problems, I suggest you go to register office and find out who is the legal owner for this property. Please don't mind, take it as our formality. "
He wrote the plot number and other details on a paper and gave it to me. He didn't want to give me the papers. That was strange. Yet I decided to go with whatever formalities they had.
I went to the register office to enquire about the house. The person-in-charge took about an hour to check the details and when he called me, I went in feeling uneasy. Something was going wrong.
He said, "Mr. Beera, this property is no longer under Mr. Mohan Bhatnagar's name. It has been sold to Mr. Kumar one year back."
I couldn't believe what I just heard. I asked, "How can this be? Mohan Bhatnagar died 2 years back. Until then it was his property and after his death, it was his wife's. How can we sell without knowing?"
He hurried to reply, "No... No... Mr. Bhatnagar didn't sell the property. He merely transferred it to his son, Aditya Vyas Bhatnagar. Mr. Aditya sold this property a year ago."
That was it. Sirji transferred the property to Addu & Addu sold it off to start his business. Then why did he have to ask for NAM funds?
How many times will you sacrifice your life for your son, Mohan Bhatnagar?
