This year has been a really wonderful year for bollywood on the box office front. It is amazing to see that so many different movies are doing well, be it big or small movies with big or small actors. Also the surprising thing is
The year started withTable No.21 and it did average. Then Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola did okay too. Then Race 2 came which did fine too. Any body Can Dance and it became super hit (no one expected that). Then Special Chabbis came which did well considering it was a off beat movie and unlike akshay's tasveer which flopped did this one okay. Murder 3 became super hit, after that Kai Po Che came and it was a hit. Sahib Biwi Aur Gangster Returns released and it did fine too. Jolly LLB became super hit, even mera dad ki maruti did average. Chashme Baddoor became super hit and after that came Commando, Nautanki Saala and Ek Thi Daiyan all these movies became average. Then Aashiqui 2 came which became a super hit. Shootout At Wadala was a hit. Gippi was average. Go Goa Gone was semi hit. then Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani came which was a super hit, YPD2 was average, Fukrey was super hit, Raanjhana did well too, ghanchakar was average, bhaag milha bhaag did well too. Then Chennai Express came which did well too. Madras Cafe did well too,
Satyagraha was average, Shudh Desi Romance did well, Grand Masti did well also.

This just shows that big actors, small actors, different of genres, movies with buzz, movies without buzz did well.

It is not because it was a year with full of quality cinema or a year full of completely hardcore masala movies either.

The reason why I think all these movies did so well was because the producers planned the release dates amazingly well. One thing is that many top actors and actress had few releases this year and some of them havne't even had a release yet(aamir, katrina, hrithik, salman. So few movies released compared to other years and most of them weren't even big movies.

Release dates helped all the movies which did well, they got good gap between each other and hence didn't eat others business much.

But now all this is going to end since november where each week will have a big release. So the big gaps are going to away and we are back to business before 2013 where movies will clash with one another or release right after each other.

So I wanted to ask you do you guys agree? and if yes don't you think next year will be bad for bollywood on the BO front considering how many clashes there is going to be made and how small the gaps are between each release?

ECONOMICS

Budgeting

Cost of the film

Revenue from place other than the cinema

these days to make a real FLOP you have to be a moron .(SAJID KHAN or Zanjeer makers

even the other so called flops are not flops. Satyagraha, OUATIM 2 etc,. They are below or average

in 2013's bollywood its very hard to make a film that is a FLOP

films these days have 100's of different ways to earn profits and get into safe territory

thinking of becoming producer myself 😆

also no 2 films this year are alike and the public wanted something alag every weekend

THIS IS SO TRUE.

for the first ever have you written something I agree with 😆

Today it is very very hard to make a film that is a flop. It is easier to make a movie work than make a movie flop.

today everything is almost accepted, all stuff kind of works.

himmatwala and zanjeer were disasters cause they messed with old cinema.

People are now more willing to accept different kinds of movies. There are no hard and fast rules on which kind of movies are gonna work at Box office. Producers are now more shrewd they know their target audience very well and promote it accordingly.

I agree with the fact that such a change is happening but I think it is a very slow change and I wonder if this change will continue in the future where so many movies are set for release.

that is a fact.

but also the gaps played a huge deal.

the other years movies released back to back and clearly family audience will not go and see all movies in cinema, each family has a budget.

this year most family members saw all the movies cause they came with big gaps.

since november we will see back to back releases of big movies and then the audience will start prioritize in terms of which movies to watch.
