Champions League T20 is back in India

All the football fans might be super excited after reading the title of this post. But sorry to disappoint them, Champions League T20 is back in India. Now the cricket fans will enjoy this post. Well, you read it right, Champions League T20 2013 will be held in India from September 17 to October 6. This is the fifth edition of the Champions League Twenty20, aka international Twenty20 cricket tournament. So are you ready to support your favorite club? Well, let's take a look at a bit of history of CL T20 and the teams that will be featuring this year.
Did you know that after the end of the first IPL season, the cricket authorities in India, Australia and South Africa entered into discussions to create a new international club competition and capitalize on this success? Interesting right!! Also $6 million prize money is known to be the single largest prize money pool in any cricket tournament so far. That is huge.
This year England teams will not feature in the tournament as their dates are clashing with the end of the County Championship. Talking about the format, CL T20 2013 has ten teams split in two groups, with the top two in each group making the semi-finals. Eight teams have been seeded directly into the main competition and will be joined by two of the four qualifiers. So which are those teams and the groups? Let's find it out.
Group A: IPL 1st ranked team (India), Highveld Lions (South Africa), Perth Scorchers (Australia), IPL 3rd ranked team (India), Q1 (Qualifier)
Group B: IPL 2nd ranked team (India), Titans (South Africa), Brisbane Heat (Australia), Trinidad & Tobago (West Indies), Q2 (Qualifier)
Qualifier: IPL 4th ranked team (India), Otago Volts (New Zealand), Sri Lanka qualifier, Faisalabad Wolves (Pakistan)
The finals will be held on 6th October at Feroz Shah Kotla, Delhi. So have you decided on your favorite team yet? Will it be Mumbai Indians or Rajasthan Royals? Or will it be Chennai Super Kings.
