Chapter 29 : Diwaali Ki Raat Kayamaat Ki Raat
Rey comes back to reality with the harsh voice - someone is calling him to attend the puja. He looks elegant in the simple yet sober white Sherwani Kurta specially chosen by granny. Suddenly, he looses his grip and the chain falls from his hand. He bents down to collect it from the ground. His mind is free from any superstitious, so he doesn't think about any bad indication through it. He comes downstairs; his eyes constantly keep revolving around the each corner of the house- perhaps they want to see who can sooth them. Everyone is present here, working or acting to do many things and those who are not doing anything, unnecessarily shouting to show how busy they are. Rey feels irritating. It is not that he doesn't like this crowd because in every season, these guests come to his place and welcomes them with smiling face. But this time, he keeps standing on the stairs for couple of moments like a fool thinking about what to do next. Suddenly, he sees Taani in a red lehenga coming with a flower tray for puja.
Her big red bindi and long tied hair make her like a live idol of any Indian Goddess. For that single moment, he forgets about his surroundings, he forgets that many people have come to meet him only, he forgets about his business and family tension. He feels that she is the person for whom his heart is waiting for so long, his search has come to an end with her coming to his life, she is the person with whom he can walk miles without resting and still he can't feel his tiredness. Actually, the time has come when he can sleep peacefully without any tension, without any panic. He forgets to blink his eyes.
"Taani, come first beta. The priest is waiting for you."Gayetri screams loudly as if no work can be done without her.
Taani makes her move faster to reach the temple. Rey comes back to Singhania Mansion with hand sake of his manager who greets him on this occasion. He smiles him back. Everybody ends the worshiping by doing the "Aarti". The priest prays for all family members' health, wealth and peace for the house and lastly gives his special blessing for this newly married couple for their coming seven lives together. Taani gets herself busy in distributing the "Prasad" among the guests.
"Taani.." Rey calls her after few moments, clears his throat a bit he asks her again, "Taani..suno". This time he gives a little stress on her name
"Are you calling me, Mr Singhania? Do you need more sweets? Arreee, why you are standing here alone?" Taani comes to him arising her surprise when seeing Rey stands isolated in a corner of the house
"Do you think we have got another girl with the same name in our family?" he curves his eyebrows for this stupid question of Taani
"Bhabi..please come here for once" Simmi holds Taani's arm and takes her away from the place and from him
Rey blames his fate. He still carries the gift with his shrwani's pocket, but unable to give her. He decides to give her at night after leaving of all guests. Aman and his office colleagues ask a photo session with him. He goes there to attend them.

"Are you sure Simmi that Vicky will come here?" Taani asks Simmi in a very low and trembling voice
Both of them have come to this less crowded place of the city very near from the Singhania Mansion to meet with Vicky. Simmi has informed that Vicky wanted to meet her for the last time as he wants to return back some evidences on the basis of which he is doing the black mail. He is also ashamed of his work and wants a forgiveness from Simmi. Simmi has also promised to give him ten lakhs money as return gift. The place is almost dark due to the improper street lights. This high way is generally used by the trucks, but today there is fewer vehicles due to the festive session.
"He told me so, Bhabi. I am nervous.."
"Don't be afraid Simmi, I am with you nah" she taps her shoulder and sees a bike is coming.
"So, Miss Simmi, finally you have decided to meet your Ex Lover" Vicky says with his sarcastic smile, "Ohh, see who is here too..Miss Beautiful, how are you Taani?" he turns to Taani now
"Shut up Vicky! Give the things fast for which we have come here" Taani replies
"Wait, wait..what's hurry?" he comes forward and holds Simmi's arm, "you loved me nah? Could not leave without me.. wanted to marry me. Remember? You have promised so many things together. Where is your commitments now?" his rough voice goes directly to Simmi's ear
"Vicky, leave me. You are a big cheater. I have forgotten you. Take this money and give me back that video clip. I don't want to see your face again, just go away from my life and go to hell. I hate you" Simmi's anger speaks on her behalf
"What do you think Simmi, I will let you go so easily? I have worked so hard for you, I have wasted so much money to impress you. I can't let you go away like this." He threatens her
"You keep this money and let her go, Vicky. I am begging of you" Taani says now
"Bhikhari samajh rakha hai kya mujhe?" he controls his anger and changes his tone, "Marry me Simmi. I don't want money, I want you. I am sorry for all, I promise you I will never hurt you, never leave you. Please marry me. I really love you. I really can't leave without you, Simmi. Please trust me" he starts crying and panicking in front of Simmi. Simmi becomes little scared by seeing him. This is his new form of him. She can't get it if he is acting or if he is repenting on his work.
"Never, I will report you to the police" Simmi tells her and steps backward
"You are so proud of your beauty.. nah? Bahut gurur hai aapne aap par? If I don't get you, I will not let you go either" he takes out a small glass bottle from his pocket of jacket and tries to throw it directing to Simmi's face.
"Simmi, move aside" Taani feels his intention that something wrong is going to happen and moves Simmi forcefully beside with her hand within a very fraction of second. Vicky is very poor at throwing to the particular object, the bottle full of acid goes to the near of Taani's right side. The splash of the liquid touches many places of the right parts of her body.
"Reeyaannsshhh..." For the second time she calls her husband by his name and falls down on the ground by fainting
Vicky runs away from the place with hisbike. Simmi starts screaming and asking for the help from god and the invisible persons present over there. But no one can hear her and comes to help this poor girl. Taani's blood makes the place wet.
On the other hand, Rey becomes impatience when he does not find Taani in the house. He himself comes to the gate just few minutes after when both of them have left the house and enquirers about her from the gatekeeper. Few outside people including the watchmen can help him to say their proper way. But when he comes to know that Taani has been accompanied by Simmi and both of them were reluctant to take family car, his extra ordinary sense smells some unknown danger. He starts his car engine for that undefined destination for two most important persons of his life.
After couple of moments with countless number of failed trying to reach them over phone, he finally finds them beside the road. Taani is lying down unconscious and Simmi is holding the body. He quickly gets down from the car and runs to them.
"Bhaiyaa..see what happen with bhabi" Simmi goes to him seeing coming from the opposite side of the road
"Taani..wake up" he shakes her face well, but she remains non-responsive. Without wasting more time, he picks her up unconscious body in his arm and takes her to his car, "how come this has happened Simmi? Kya huya Taani ko? Tum do no yaha kyu aaye?" Her blood makes Rey's sherwani wet, the white color has turned to red now with the color of her bindi, sindoor and blood .
Simmi stands still there with answerless face. The ground becomes magnetic to her body, Rey shakes her and takes her to the car. "Bhai, Ye sab meri wajah se huya hai. Vicky has thrown the acid bottle to me, bhabi has saved me... Please don't let him free. Please Bhai" she cries on Rey's shoulder
"Let me take her to the nearest hospital first" he starts his car
Simmi keeps Taani's head on her lap in the back seat, her wound is constantly bleeding and Simmi becomes speechless with this certain shock.Rey takes the highest speed in the lonely car, constantly moving back to know about her and she is nothing more than a body now.
The guests gradually disappear from Singhania mansion as it is already late night. Manorama chachi, Gayetri and chacha ji become worried by not spotting three family members together in the house. At around one o'clock at night chacha ji gets a phone call on his mobile from Rey. Three of them come to the hospital immediately.
"How is Taani Dr Bhatnagar?" asks Rey with lots of anxiety in his tone
"We have started our medicine. Please do the required formality. We need to operate her as soon as possible, Mr Singhania. Thankfully, very less liquid has just touched her body, otherwise it could have been more dangerous to her. Still, we can't say anything before twenty four hours. We may require some blood urgently as she is still bleeding" doctor leaves the place with the short briefing
"How and when all this happened, Babuya?" Gayetri asks him
"I won't leave that scoundrel, I will kill him, I want to see him behind the bar now" Rey makes his punches. He forgets what he exactly wants now if he wants Vicky in the jail or he wants his death sentence
"Please calm down Babuya, this is not the right place and time to react like this." Chacha ji comes and holds his shoulder, "Simmi has told me everything. Just leave it to me, I will handle this. Taani will need you more"
"You and Simmi go to the house and freshen up yourself, Babuya. We are here waiting till then" Manorama advices Rey
"No chachi ji, I am fine. Taani is still unconscious. I can't go home now"
Rey signs on the paper where it says if the patient dies in the process of operating, the hospital owners are not responsible for it and as the husband of her, he is agreeing on it. Rey's fingers shake for a moment. He feels his eyes are moist, the words are becoming little hazy in front of him - Reyaansh Singhania can't control his emotional after so many years. A small drop of tear which was dried so many years ago, is rolled out from his eyes, very secretly, very silently. No one could see it even when he lost his father, today also no one can realize it. . .Those eyes were full of anger, which eventually get emotionless, faded. But now, these are the most expressive, most paining eyes of the world.
The body is being taken to the room, from where many comes with a good news , few don't. Her body is being covered with the clean, white sheet. A very little face is open, Rey looks to her - she seems like sleeping peaceful sleep. Simmi is constantly crying near to him. The door of the OT is closed.

The each and every moment of the night passes like an hour, every family members can't think to move their eyes from the Operation Theater till the red light goes off and doctors come out with a good news. When the nurses are coming out to take some extra medicine, Rey runs to ask them about her condition. At last the sun and birds inform the beginning of a new day after ending a dull dark night. The doctor comes out from the OT and informs that Taani's condition is much better than before.
"She is fine now. Don't worry Mr Singhania, we have tried our level best. But one thing I want to say that some of her right body portion is badly injured including her face. I mean, I expect to see some responsibility, some maturity from you as her husband." the doctor tells Rey in his chamber in the immediate next morning
"What do you want to say Dr Bhatnagar?"
"I mean, she is beautiful, she is young. But you know this liquid called acid has a very powerful effect even if a very little splash of it touches our body. I am not saying that you can't live your conjugal life smoothly, but maybe she feels little shy, little hesitant to express herself. In that case, you have to come forward, you have to make herself feel special. Do you understand what I am trying to say?"
"Yes doctor" Rey nods his head up and down and listens doctor's words carefully
"She will back to her normal skin once again for sure, but for that she is needed to go through some cosmetic surgery which we don't want to do now. First of all, she should be stronger from heart, a psychological effect..you know. When you or your family will first meet her, behave normally with her as if nothing has happened. We are also not telling her anything, then gradually, slowly tell her. She may firstly dislike herself, but you have to handle her."
"She is perfectly okay now doctor? Woh billkull theek ho jayegi nah? I mean, any of her internal part you know what I am saying.."
"Yea yea , Mr Singhania. She is perfect for becoming a mother. Thank fully, none of her productive organs are being damaged. You don't worry about it. I know you are newly married couple. Just take care of her properly"
"Yes I will do and I am grateful to you, you have saved her life" he hugs the doctor
The next few weeks, doctor keeps Taani in the hospital. Rey goes to meet Taani two times in a day either with Simmi or chachi ji. Vicky has been put behind the bar for attempting murder. In one fine day, Gayetri calls Rey in her room when Rey returns from office.
"It's long two weeks already Babuya and I am feeling this house incomplete without Taani. Please bring her back now; we will continue her rest of the treatment here. We will go tomorrow morning and bring her back" she says
"Okay then, I will talk with Dr Bhatnagar today only" he agrees and leaves the room. His quiet nature is so prominent now- a- days.
Pre cap : Rey goes to his room by hearing Taani's scream. He enters into room and finds the mirror into pieces. "Taani..Taani, calm down please, chup ho jaao. You are still beautiful.. dekho meri aankho mein.." He holds her tightly and places a kiss on her forhead.
