Mumbai is safest of all cities in India. I haven't lived in or been to Chennai, hyderabad and Kolkatta But Mumbai should be safer than these as well.
Also remember Mumbai is filthiest of all cities as well(Chennai and Kolkatta might be competing as well 😃). Downtown is very very expensive and you'd only afford to live in some far flung suburbs in your IT salary. But millions of people do that and you will do just fine.
my question is why would you want to leave banglore because its a better city IMO? there should be plenty of jobs in banglore too.
Lot of kannada and marathi get married to each other so i suspect languages are fairly similar. Not sure which other language would you learn in Mumbai which you cant in Banglore? yeah you may pick some Gujarati in Mumbai, but i would nt move to another city for that😆

😆 since when does one need to know anything to answer stuff? Ab aap apne aap ko hee dekh lo😆

if it were me, i'd stay put in bangalore. Mumbai has some great nightclubs like Triilogy and the nightlife is hot and happening, but the weather really sucks. Hot and muggy most of the year. Hope this helps😊

you are welcome 😊.. do move to Mumbai for experience it is more cosmopolitan than any other city in India. Yes people from all states/regions exist in Mumbai especially from southern states
Kannadiga and Marathi marriages? yeah my close friends used to tell me how their parents had arranged marriages.. some Konkan belt connection? not sure I remember enough though. Thing I like about these cities including London(where I am now) it caters to all classes and you can live about in any budget that you have surprisingly😊.. So don't worry, go and experience new places(it helps you grow as a person) and you always have nice home to come back to.

Good thing about mumbai

People - People constitute from every community majority among them is Marathi, gujarati, rajastani , people from north to the extent of well concentrated parsi community. Marathi are well cultured, helpful , emotional etc. barring those political groups like MNS . people are fabulous You will not get any difficulty in terms of language , communication , people barrier as you can converse with them in Hindi. As mumbai is having mixed culture so you will not find any difficulty to stay there. I think in konkan side , may be kolhapur etc, you will find trace of karanataka not in Mumbai.

Place - As it is covered by sea so the environment , place is also good. The difference in environment is it is baring two months heavy rain in between july to August all other seasons are good not too much cold or hot , may be you can relate to environment .

Safety - It is a little bit better place compare to other cities in terms of safety as people roam around in midnight also without any issues. Nightlife is also great.

Bad things :

cost : Accommodation is too costly , if you want to opt for rented flat/room you have to pay as deposit of 10 months rent , so also rent is high,

Travelling :

The worst thing is trevelling in Mumbai, as it is too concentrated , so you will find heavy rush on trains, weather you are male or female it does not matter, all jostle for few inches of space in train, on an average 15 people die daily due to accidents, difficult to get accomodation near at your work place , so travelling is must,

better stay in bangalore then mumbai because you will face travelling as the biggest issue regarding rented accomodation may be you can manage it in hostels or as paying guest with less cost if you dont opt for flats,

Language : Kannada and Marathi language are totally different , I think south language is altogether different from north, west, east language in india , Marathi is more relate to sanskrit , so you can understand marathi as you are comfortable in Hindi,

I would agree with LP , Don't know anything about your profession but Mumbai should have more career and growth opportunities. Also I think the city is friendly and safer for women. It is also pretty cosmopolitan and more accepting than other parts of India. Though the whether is hot and humid, personally I can never take that but since you come from Bangalore, I say you might just be fine with it.
Just consider basic precautions and be open about the new place, it might take you a while but give it a good shot, if it helps you in any way!

P.S. I just cannot believe I wrote good things about Mumbai, here goes the Uni rivalries.

Believe me Mumbai is safest of all metropolitican cities! I can't assure that nothing bad ever happens! But trust me it is anyday safer than any other metropolitican city! :) I
I live in Mumbai and girls freely roam in night too! :D

Well you are kannadiga! Great! :D
Dombivali in mumbai has lot of kannadigas !
Btw don't worry much about language, being a cosmopolitan city, you will find people of literally all languages here! So in public(like malls , markets, public transport) they mostly speak hindi!

Plus it has great job opportunities! There is even a saying that 'No one stays unemployed there'. And you are in IT sector! You will definitely get a good job!

So go for mumbai! You will enjoy living there! :)
