Have weddings become too commercial?

Have weddings become too commercial?😉

A new Church of England guide says couples getting married should spend less and think green before planning their wedding. 😊😊😊

The guide says the true meaning of marriage is becoming lost in a spiralling culture of spending. Recent figures suggest the average cost of a wedding in the UK has now reached 17000 (US$33,000) with the bride's dress alone costing an estimated 826 (US $1,600).😕

The guide suggests couples could save money by buying a second-hand wedding dress, or asking friends and family to provide their own drinks. 😃😃

Are modern weddings out of control? What are they like in your country? When you got married, did you try to keep it simple? If you married again would you do it differently?😕

- Not a good idea. If you spend it all , no need to have a pre-nup.😃

Are modern weddings out of control? What are they like in your country? They have elaborate weddings in Ethiopia too.

When you got married, did you try to keep it simple? We still had 700 guests we didn't know but parents did.

If you married again would you do it differently?😕

🤔

If one has money to spare, spend it on weddings, yachts, houses, clothes etc.

O yes….it has become very commercial…its kind of a means by which you can show it to the world what all you have…

In india ….its one big lavish affair… you have to spends lots on decoration, catering, Dj n stuff, flowers, n god know what all…but whats wrong in that? I mean if you can afford it..then why not? After all it's the most important day of your life and obviously you want to make it the most special one.. 😉

yeahh well, occasions like weddings usually comes only once in everyone's life. And if u can afford it, why not? That's the one day u really wanna celebrate. share ur joy with all ur relatives and loved ones.

Yes it can be done simply as well but if ONLY one can afford it, then, theres nothing wrong in spending heavily for ur wedding. But its always good to go for smthg thats more personalised than commercialised.

well..I would say it has become too commercial..but again...u get married only once in ur life...or thats what most ppl does...so u want it special...I think before all this...we should try to study...so we have a good job then start saving...and then get married...or we could always get married without spending a lot...and without thinking what other ppl would say...coz its our life..If I have money...and would want to get married...I would rather spend it on a down payment for a house than for my fancy marriage...coz house would make my future a bit more secure and it would be something that I would have...but on marriage...it would all be spent...and I wouldn't really have anything left after my fancy wedding is finished...so it depends on what the couple wants 😊

Nothing wrong in Arya Samaj weddings. As a matter of fact they work out the best for most of the couples. I was married under Arya Samaj system. But over the yrs I have felt that Wedding comes only once in person's life and if one can afford to spend on their wedding they should to celebrate their wows. Unless they do renew their wows on 25th anniv or 50th anniv and make up for what they did not enjoy initially. IMHO.

Marriage happens only once but if you cannot afford and have to take a loan to get married it is better to have a simple wedding..

So, if only one can afford, one should spend on lavish wedding otherwise.. there are more important things like buying a house, household items etc..

Today, it has become too difficult cos one family does something special and grand in their daughther or sons wedding, so other family feels that to compete or to show or to do the same thing cos if not done ppl might talk.. and then they go to any length adjusting their budget and taking loan which would land them in debt for life.. doesnt make sense that in such scenario ppl should go for lavish weddings for the sake of society... in that way it has been commercial.. woh karte hai toh humko bhi karana padega whether one can afford or not..

If one cannot afford.. one can use the same money for buying essential things in life..

If you have the money why not? But if you're going to go into debt with a lavish one, thats retarded.
