I love your point of view. Very well drafted, and very well presented.

There is a time and place for all events in a story. If Zoyaan was so dear to Gul, then why did Zoya end up in Asads house in the first place? ... I think its because Tanveer was not cast yet.

Over all this time, lets not forget that Gul cashed in on Asya popularity, with Tanveer as a mild irritant, through IPL season, with function after function, and mitwa after mitwa. The TRPs held up. Though june and july, Tanveer dragged on to pass Ramzaan.

But then Zoyaan is not a non-perishable idea. It has a shelf life. Putting it in now, just when big boss has started, is a way for the actors to carry the show on their shoulders ... The PH can justify themselves to the channel wi th excuses of Big Boss, being a crowd puller.

That does not take away from the fact that whatever the reasons for Zoyaan, or whatever you want o call it ... Its an idea that is no longer viable, and the T r ps are going to fall. It has happened in millions of other shows as well.

Brilliant performances are only appreciated by die-hard fans. To buy in to a show, the story needs to carry. Imagine for a moment, yesterdays episode, and a first time viewer. (S)he sees three good looking people crying, and finds out that two got married by mistake, and the other one is in agony. Despite the virtuoso performances, despite the real blood, sweat and tears that these three lion hearted actors put in, the story ain't gonna sell!

How many times have the most brilliant ideas failed in the market?!

The fans are the market, and at the end of the day, Gul is selling a product. If TRPs are a way of giving her much needed customer feedback, then so be it!

👏👏 Love you girl!!
Just saw this now!

Yes, I am also in the minority and do NOT want Gul to change the storyline. There is great scope for drama! Bring it on! 😃

Well, nice post. First off. You write well.

Secondly, I want to comment on a few things.

I used to love QH. So much so that it was nothing short of an addiction and I could not let a day pass by without watching the epi, attending the live update, rather watching the epi twice - like online, then on zee and then the reruns on the weekend. I remember, I spent four - mind you four nights on 2 hour sleep to catch up missed episodes. That was the amount of craziness I had for this show. I never watched SBB or all that stuff but I started following it for QH, and my friends and family had to bear endless discussions on why it was a different show! I was behaving like a teenager again.

Why did I love QH? Because, I was impressed with the story. I loved how they created characters and beautiful weaved the behavior issues they have. I loved the parallels they created in Asad, Zoya and Ayaan. Zoya and Ayaan being so similar, and Asad a stark opposite. I loved how Asad fought himself...I loved the logic the story had (because they always completed circles). I loved the symbolisms, everything.

Then, I began losing patience. I loved how Tanveer was introduced. I loved how no one guessed she was Billo Rani. Then one day she was introduced as Billo Rani and boy I was blown away by the twist. And, then Amrapali entered. She is a good actress, I must say, but right after that, suddenly Tanveer began becoming overly powerful in the show. Nothing, after that point has been given a proper closure. NOTHING.

So many things - clues by DB, Humeira's poisoning, etc., were left lurking because sadly my favorite show had now been affected by the TRP bug. SADLY.

The downfall of QH for me personally had began just then. Because, they were showing something totally unpalatable to my appetite for logic and covering it up with a Mitwa moment, or romantic dream dances. Some of my comrades who have known me on this forum longer like Drea, Shruthi, Priya etc., would know that I was the nit picker even then. I did not like TANVEER's exit from the show. It did nothing for me. I felt it was anticlimatic. I also did not like the Rajni track. I did not like the Zoya fulfilling Asad's wishes track. I think these were nice tracks, but very poorly executed. Cherry on the cake is the Rashid gifting Asad on his birthday track. And, now with the second revelation of what Tanveer is capable of doing - I have stopped using my brain cells at all in what is plausible and what is not (Shruthi and Priya wont agree, I know, because I STILL CARE AND I STILL COMMENT!!! But, well!)

I think you are right. Zoyaan had potential had it been introduced earlier. Tanveer being Zoya's antithesis and Asad realizing looks can be deceptive was a potential track but making Tanveer outright negative just for TRPs ruined it. So, Gul Khan, the Director, or the Channel have already dug a grave for themselves, and they did it long back. The TRPS were high so far, because many of the audiences could be treated in a carrot and stick way - thoda bura dikha do, fir romance dikha do. But, now with AsYa, that carrot is taken away from them.

Gul Khan has (openly, via Forum32) said that she makes the show for the masses not for the realists who are far few and in between and she herself has challenged us that if we don't like the show we can either give constructive criticism or use the remote. Now, unfortunately those words are coming to bite her back. The issue is that she bit a lot more than she can chew long before. Had she stuck to her original story things would have been different. Had she maintained logic things would have been different. If she decided to build AsYa for TRP, then ...had she let them be, things would have been different. But, she sowed the seeds of this long ago, and now what has been done is the final nail in the coffin for many.

Am I happy that the TRPs fell? Honestly NO.I mean, I don't care.I made a choice, and that was to treat it like another show and get over my addiction for it long long time ago. There are times when I dont watch a single episode and I am fine, now for days, weeks. WUs are enough. I dont feel like impatiently beginning to check for WU the moment its 9:30 in India, anymore. It does not affect me that way.

But I understand why so many people are happy about the TRPs. Because they feel that finally it will hit Gul where it should have. No one wants the show to shut down. But no one wants to be told as a customer that their loyalty is not important either. Unfortunately, it is the customers that make or break a show, and intentionally or in zest, Gul challenged their intelligence, and power and came across as too arrogant. But everytime, she has to bow down to customers wishes - which is why the stupid, illogical exit of Tanveer. And the loads of romance thereafter.Unfortunately you can't tell users to wait patiently for a nikaah, create all the hype and then call it off last minute with these twists. They may increase drama, and may work also, but somewhere, some users are going to feel cheated. Cry wolf, anyone?

This is not the QH I fell in love with. This is , as I always say , a haphazard putting together of illogical tracks, some cheesy romance, and lots of TRP motivated drama.

Sadly, the show had fallen prey to TRPs long back. The cracks in the wall had begun much much earlier, its just that the castle can be seen falling down now.

PS: I am not condoning or supporting the celebration on the drop of the TRPs , I am just sharing my views on this entire fiasco. The reason most are happy is because they feel the PH can taste their own medicine now.

I agree , but ZoYaan will bring back TRP's . lets wait and watch. Next few weeks will decide its fate.
I thought I replied to you earlier .. a long one.. but I cannot see it here.. maybe I deleted it.

I like the show. The reason I stop watching is because of illogical things that they r showing. In a way they r showing negative impacts of religion. And that's not right.
I am not calling any name. I just don't approve of what they showing cause believe it or not people do believe things that r showed on tv. Whether it's fictional or real.

well said girl.
Even I was surprised by how many were happy that TRPs had fallen.
We should let the story unfold, before jumping to conclusions. Even I am not happy with the track, but then QH has become a habit now. Can't wish for its downfall.
Hope things will become better on the story and TRP front.

Hmmm, may be you did delete it, but its okay. I don't care if Zoyaan brings back the TRPs, though I know it helps QH. I cared for the story and for me, it is lost. I know one man's meat is another man's poison so everyone here is free to like this new track. I just can't stomach it. :)
