Savitri going off air on 4 October, Reshmi Ghosh miffed with her character not shaping up in the show
Life OK's Savitri (Flying Turtles Films) that was launched on 18 February this year will air its last episode on 4 October (2013).
It was launched amidst great fanfare. The show had a promising cast and used cutting edge technology. But neither the special effects nor the characters of the show, were able to sustain a higher viewership.
Speaking on the same, Reshmi Ghosh, who played Goolika on the show, confirmed the news saying, "Yes, the show is going off-air. Initially, I was very excited as my character was very interesting and powerful, but somewhere down the line, Goolika did not shape up the way I expected it to be. In such a kind of show where you have a mythological background, one needs to have a very strong base of characters but with regards to my character, I haven't seen that happen," she adds.
"In future, I am looking forward to doing shows which have powerful character roles even if it means essaying the role of a mother. I am also open to bold or negative roles which I love playing," she adds.
Furthermore a source added that Savirti was a costly show like Mahadev but never managed to get the desired numbers. Furthermore, there was an issue of episode delivery. For a show with heavy special effects, the episodes need to be submitted at least 48 hours in advance for uplinking, is what the source added.
When contacted producer Shabbir Ahluwalia, "Yes, it's going off-air but more clarity will come in the coming days."
It is believed that Mallika Sherawat's Bachelorette India will replace Savitri.

Life OK to see programming changes with Bachelorette India hitting screens
When an announcement of any new show is made, there is always a sense that one of the exiting serials will be pulled off air from the channel or the creatives will nudge and shuffle existing shows' timings to fit the new one.
And that is exactly what is happening with Life OK pertaining to the launch of its next high profile reality venture, Bachelorette India - Mere Khayaalon ki Mallika (SOL Productions).
Tellychakkar.com has information that the show in most probability will air from 7 October and will take the 9.30pm slot. It will be an hour long show and will air daily, is what our sources have informed us.
Now, we already know that Savirti is shutting to pave way for Bachelorette India. So Savirti's 9.30 pm slot is clear for the launch. But Bachelorette India has an hour long telecast, so what will happen to Kaisa Yeh Ishq Hai...Ajab Sa Risk Hai which airs at 10pm currently?
We got the answer from the show's producer Manish Goswami (Siddhant Cinevision).
He said: "Mallika's show will run for a short time for 4-5 weeks. Thus, Kaisa Yeh Ishq will be taken off air for that period of time only to get back in the future."
Hmm...so the bottomline is Savitri and Kaisa Yeh Ishq will give way to Bachelorette India. However, once the reality show ends, Kaisa Yeh Ishq will return with its romantic flavour.
We tried reaching Life OK channel head Ajit Thakur but he remained unavailable.
