Mythili,

I have a diary which has been with me for the last 10 years...my average no of enteries is ~ 1.2/ year! 😛

But it is fun to sit with the diary and remember the different times...I dont mind if someone in my house reads it...coz I am pretty sure they wouldnt be judgemental about it...I would, however, not like an outsider to read it and since the diary is always under a heap of clothes in my perenially messy cupboard..fat chance that anyone can lay their hands on it! 😃

I also started a blog about 4 months ago which i havent updated for what seems ages... 😛

I am looking at this discussion from a different point of view..
What is it that one wants to write in a diary that could make it unsafe?? if their is such a personal dialogue?.. (MONOLOGUE), does it really have to be written down everyday? There are certain things that you feel relieved after jotting down, but the other issues are always engulfed in the gray matter and sometimes they are so random, and everchanging, that jotting down may not be of use perhaps??
IS DIARY JUST AN OUTLET / MORE THAN THAT?
PERHAPS the controvertial issues jotted in these celebrity diaries that u mentioned, were just temporary brain-excreta which found their way onto ink and paper..??
Even if its Einstein's diary, I wouldn;t take it too seriously. I will much rather invest my time into reading his biography / quotes and thoughts edited and published rather than written down day after another.

For commoners like myself, is life so eventful, that something needs to be written everyday??

I never write a diary, but I always remind myself at the end of the day, whatever happned and how it was wonderful / awful..
Anytime I feel like writing down something, I BLOG and share.. I don;t quite care whether its safe or not.. Diary according to me is not for venting / secrets.. Meditation is.. Diary can be safe and I don;t think it should be taken as the person's final word/ judgement. It is rather SPUR OF MOMENT reaction I believe. It can even be online for that matter.. I never understood the whole concept of writing diary everyday and worrying about its privacy..

PS these are just my views.. i do not intend to hurt those who love writing diaries. i apologize if i did.

Hi QT,
My views seem to be similar to yours...but writing is considered cathartic and is recommended sometimes by psychologists for people who have difficulty in verbalising issues...it gives a logical sequence to your thoughts and reading things you have written may give you a better perspective...

People hide their thoughts and their diaries coz they fear being judged by others...thats why I said I wouldnt mind someone close to me reading my diary ...

I for one would never read another's personal diary...but if I did I wouldnt judge them...but would try n empathize!

I agree with you. Some ppl probably find it cathartic ( i myself briefly mentioned it too) .. but since i won;t judge them if i read those.. i guess i failed to realize the importance of that sort of privacy they seek.. In fact, i feel that if they opened up and just tried to find someone to listen to them,, some real friend, instead of sheets of paper.. they might just be happier people. Good friends indeed are hard to find, but not impossible! 😊

Dear Friends!!!

A very good evening ,good afternoon and good morning to all!!!

Writing in diary is one of the good habits one should inculcate rightfrom childhood - I read in my Hindi,Telugu essays in primary classes.I don't think we have such lessons now!!

So many great leaders had the habit of writing in Diary. The used to record their thoughts in it.Subsequently we had several books published and I got a job of updating online links that's a different story.Diaries create several controversies. One more intersting is notorious dictators, rulers used to write diaries. This is past but even now people write diaries. Most interesting thing is even Scam Kings like Abdul kareen Telgi,Gangsters like Abu Salem write diaries.Several scams really see light because of diaries. Some times anti social elements get noticed because of their diaries.

Considering the case of common man( common woman😆) they too write diaries. We write sincerely in it.It may or may not create sensations, controversies.

I'm very inquisitive to know some things:

Do you write diary?

No.. its lame and foolish to unravel your mind on paper...

Do you really continue writing in it atleast for 2 months?

No

Do u think "Haah!!! In this digital age howz goin to write diaries!!!"?

No thats the last reason... you would use your handwriting to pen you thouhghts doesnt make sense if you use organizers...😊

If at all u write /wrote in a diary do you confess your real feelings in it?

Yes of course...

Will u take measures to keep it in a protected place?

Last and most intersting thing:

Say you say a diary of a person whom you know well and nobody is around will you read it or will you keep the book in its place ???

No... I dont let anyone lay hands on my diary ever... its my dirty little secret..

How do you react if you know that someone has read your diary?

I am extremely fuarious nd enraged... No one can lay hands on my diary

Please feel free to share your views.

Cheers,

Mythili

Writing one thoughts is good.. but if someone sees it and read it then the feeling will not be good.. Diary is a personal feelings outlet where we can write and unburden our feelings.. Everyone should respect it and should not read others diary.. but mostly it doesnt happen that way....

I dont keep a diary but sometimes when feelings are unbearable.. I do write on a Word document.. and it has a password.. 😆 that way I relieve my feelings and also it is safe 😊
