As the Prabhu Nivas-vasis bid adieu to their favourite annual guest ... they also welcomed in someone who would make it his business to visit the Prabhu residence lot more frequently than Gannu bhaiyaa ! Ganpati's joyous farewell festivities are always a cause for celebration in any Marathi household but this year it set the premises for yet another happy occasion in this particular family - The initiation of Dhruv D. into their home !
Adu, Nani, Aaji and Prachi had all taken to Dhruv D. instantly, signing up for Lifetime memberships to his fanclub , charmed by the golly good fella's sunny disposition. However the one person he failed to charm his way to , the one person who had always had her reservations about him was the family's oldest child & forebearer Sanchi. And there could be no stronger bolt on the door to Prabhu Nivas for Dhruv D. to contend with.
So today when Saanchi, who has always been eyeing him warily from day 1 thanks to his road-side Romeo antics, indulged his besharam zabardasti ki mehman-ness (đ) by giving him permission to fall in love with her chai, spoke with him in fond reminiscence over a kadhai of Halwa cum Prasad, her laughter tinkling in sync with her bangles and their merry banter carrying across the hall, once couldn't help but concur that this person had been won over too. Hence completing his initiation into the Prabhu Household.
Funnily enough, as proof of her faith in her newest friend, she actually entrusted him with the revered handi ka chamcha to stir the precious Halwa with while she went on to attend to more pressing matters, leaving Dhruv to watch from behind in fond facination, admiring the altruism of a woman who was noble enough to extend such a sincere greeting to the wife of a Grade-A douchebag like Pradeep. No bets on who will fall in love with whom first đ!
And if that wasn't enough to make Dhruv's day (week, month ... year ?) there was the double serving of prasad with *warm smiles* to go ! If we could hear Dhruv's thoughts, we would probably go deaf with the giddy squealing ! đ
And ofcourse, Nani & Dadi were all too aware of this new development.Who wants to bet it wont take them too long to fangirl over and root for this couple ? I'm all in on this one .
And now for the most crucial moment of the day that cemented Dhruv. D's ascension to the ranks of an almost-permanent member of the family. Taking over from Adu and doing Ganpati's visarjan not only earned him Nani/Aaji's proud smiles, Adu's thumbs-up, the neighbourhood's approval but also Sanchi's silent gratitude. And Dhruv couldn't have asked for any more.
Here's to a big family which just got bigger, here's to a Dhruv D.'s lasting romance with the Prabhu household đ
