Life isn't a matter of milestones, but of moments.
As soon as Mayank entered her room he was quiet amazed seeing how she had kept her room neat and tidy and colours of the walls were so sober like ..like his room...it's seems so decent and sober to eyes...he immediately exclaimed,"Nice colour..".
Nupur:Ji..?
Mayank:Vo..aapki room ke walls ke colour..nice...giving such a heart warming look...
She smiled a bit and replied,"Ji vo mujhe sober or pastel colours pasand hain zaayeda..!!".He too smiled...
There was an awkward silence...both of them wanted to speak but decided to let the other one to speak first...lancing here and there Mayank spoke breaking the silence...
Mayank:Vese thanks..for the gift..!!!"
Nupur:Ji..??
Mayank:Thanks for the birthday gift...!!!
Nupur:Aapne dekha..!!?
Mayank:Haan...and trust me mujhe genuinely bahut acha laga..I mean the painiting was giving me a sort of..umm...you a sort..of..vo hota hain..na.."
Nupur:Sukoon...milta hain..dekh ker..
Mayank smiled and said,"Ji...Thanks a lot for it.!!".
Nupur:My Pleasure..!!!
Mayank:Aapko paintings ka bhi shauk hain..
Nupur:Ji kuch khaas nahi...bas uss din jab aapke liye gift kharid rahe the to ye painting dekhkar mujhe laga ki..ye achi rahegi...i mean din-bhar office ki thakaan ke baad agar kuch aisa sukoon jesa dekhne ko mile...
Mayank:To poori thakaan utar jaati hain...
Nupur:Ji...??
Mayank:Ji aap yehi kehne waali thi na...
Nupur...nodded her head...in agreement..
Again silence prevailed in the room as if nothing was there to talk now furthur...they kept on looking here and there sometimes to each other and sometimes to the walls...as if gathering their courage to clarify some equations between them.
Mayank and Nupur were standing in the balcony and enjoying the fresh air.
"Mujhe aapse.."
"Mujhe kuch.."
They spoke up at a time and at last, broke in a giggle.
"Pehele please main kahu?", Nupur asked pleadingly yet cutely and Mayank couldn't help but nod smilingly."She look so cute".His heart made a comment..he soon covered it up while his mind mentally scolded his heart and ask it to behave properly..
"Aab jab ki humari shaadi hone jaa rahi hai, main kuch zaruri baatein, jo ki mere baare mein hai, aap ko bataana chahti hu.", said Nupur seriously.
Mayank keenly asked, "Kya?"
Nupur's eyes were filled with tears as she remembered something of her past. "Maa papa ke divorce ke baad mera shaadi par se vishwaas hi uth gaya.Jis tarah meri Maa ne mujhe akele pala hain aur na jaane kitne dukh sahe hain ye mein hi jaanti hoon...Vo ankahe Zakhm abhi bhi itne taazein hai ki shaadi jaise rishte par believe karna mere liye bahut mushkil hain...!!!", she said in a teary voice.
Mayank was amazed at her genuine confession and most importantly, her straight-forward attitude, and to tell the truth, somewhere he actually liked it.
"Yeh shaadi main sirf maa ki khushi ke liye kar rahi hu.", Nupur said and her voice was easily reflecting how much to an extent she loved her mother. Tears slowly rolled down from her eyes.
Mayank took out his handkerchief and giving it to Nupur, he said friendly, "Main bhi yeh shadi sirf maa ki khushi ke liye kar raha hu."
Nupur wiped off her tears and smiled knowing that they had agreed to get married for the same reason. After a while, she said, "Sorry!"
"Kyun?", Mayank asked, surprised.
"Aise ro diya, bas issi liye. Pata nahi jab bhi senti ho jati hu, tab rona aa jata hai...kitna control kerti hoon but khud ko rok nahi paati hoon!!", Nupur said in an innocence-filled tone.
Mayank chuckled and said, "Senti hone par insaan rohta hi hai."
Nupur understood what a silly thing she said, and at last, she laughed, and with her, Mayank laughed, too.
"Waise thank you...".Mayank confessed...
Nupur:Kis baat ke liye...
Mayank:Darsal yahan aane se pehle..mere mann mein bahut sawaal the...ki na jaane aapko mujhse kya kya expectations ho..may be you were having a fantasy about your marriage...aur...lekin aapki baatein sun ker...I am quiet relax..mein poori koshish karunga ki aapke vo zakhm fir se aapke saamne aa aayen.."
Nupur:Thanks..mujhe samjhne ke liye...
Waise, mujhe bhi aap ko kuch bataana hai apne baare mein.", said Mayank with an uneasiness in his voice.
"Kya?", Nupur asked.
"Mere zindagi mein sab se upar meri mom aur Suhaani hai, uske baad mera kaam hai. I love working, it's like my first love and I seriously can't live without it.", said Mayank and his expression turned from discomfort to excitement.
Nupur was in awe seeing his dedication for his work. She always liked such kind of personalities and he was obviously one of them for sure.
"That sounds really nice. I appreciate it.", Nupur said with a real smile and Mayank felt as if he had got a noble prize. Everyone considered him rather strange or unique but there was someone who appreciated him truly.
Mayank:Vese aap se ek baat poochni thi...
Nupur: Haan Ji Boliye..!!
Mayank:Kya aapko pata tha iss enaggement ke baare mein ya fir aapke liye bhi surprise bomb tha...kyunki actually ye mere liye kisi surpirse atom bomb se kam nahi tha...Saying he flash a stupid smile to her...She giggled a bit on the thought sensing that they both were victims of this surprise bomb...
Nupur:Ji..ye mere liye bhi surprise bomb tha..isss plan ke peeche mastermind meri aur aapki Maa..hain..
Mayank:I knew it...
They both smile to each other...when they heard.
"Mayank", "Nupur,"
They heard their parents calling them inside, and exchanging smiles at each other for a final time, they went inside together.
