I Know Ekta will Give me a Good Role': Hiten Tejwani

Hiten is known to be an Ekta Kapoor favourite and for good reason. Every housewife's ultimate man, he has proven he has the ability to lift a show with his talent and charisma. Masala! chats with one of the most popular actors on the small screen.

Would you agree that you saved the day for Ekta Kapoor yet again in Kya Hua Tera Vaada?
I wouldn't say that. It's just that she gives me a chance every time. When I started shooting I was told it was a cameo which later would develop into a full-fledged role. The character was always there in her mind. She had it all planned and did what she felt was right for the story.

How close were you to the character you played?
Jatin was a lovely character who was full of life. The character brief given to me was that he's a lot like me. I felt strongly about Jatin but I am certain I'll get more such characters.

Why did you sign the crime show Savdhaan India?
A non-fiction show like Savdhaan India is different from a daily show since you are making direct contact with people. Most people don't know much about crimes or ways to tackle them. But this show tells you how to take action and get help. I feel I am now doing my bit for society.

Who do you give credit to for your success?
There are a lot of people who have given me opportunities but I too have given my 100 per cent to my roles. Success is about hard work and faith in your own capabilities that makes you successful.

Any plans of working with your wife Gauri again?
Gauri is now busy with the kids. She's decided that she'll be with them and if there is some good role, she'll definitely take it up. We would love to work together if given the opportunity.

You have always been Ekta's favourite. Why do you think this relationship has sustained?
We have an understanding. If she feels I'm the best person for the role, she'll come to me. We don't have to speak to each other and she need not even brief me. I know what she's like and she knows what I'm capable of doing. I am sure that she will always give me a good role. That's the kind of relationship we share.
