For an adult comedy, Grand Masti is all set to embark on a good start for itself. The film benefits from a terrific recall value that Masti as a series boasts of. Moreover, the entire promotional campaign has been bang on target, hence finding its target audience on it's way. While this also means that children and to an extent family audience are out of picture for this Indra Kumar directed affair, the fact also remains that the film would see the biggest ever opening for the director who had started his career with family flicks like Dil, Beta andRaja.

The film is plagued though by the stay order in Punjab and Haryana on charges of vulgarity. However as it happens with most films, this one too is expected to sail through. As things stand today, the film should take60%-70% opening for itself, which would ensure that the collections gained are one of the better ones this year. In fact it won't be surprising if the film enjoys its place amongst Top-10 weekends of the year. WhileRiteish Deshmukh is on a winning streak already, the film's (expected) success would benefit Vivek Oberoi in a major way. Also, Aftab Shivdasani would make it two in a row after 1920 - Evil Returns.

Meanwhile producer of 1920 - Evil Returns, Vikram Bhatt, returns with his horror affair Horror Story. The film has two selling points - Vikram Bhatt's name and horror genre. While that should ensure that the film fetches good eyeballs, the lack of known faces as well as complete absence of music means it would all even out eventually. Also, controlled promotion of the film means a lot would depend on word of mouth since from the opening perspective, it would be just about fair.

Third release of the week is John Day and it would be looking at gaining some good footfalls once word of mouth sets in. A dramatic suspense thriller, the film sees Naseeruddin Shah and Randeep Hooda coming together. The film promises a good story in the offering and one expects good critical acclaim helping it cover greater distance.

He might have debuted on a rocking note with a Mast, but ever since then, this actor was all downhill, not because he did not have the ability to perform but because he could hardly get to do definitive roles as such. With his utterly grand and hilarious avatar coming up in Grand Masti tomorrow, Aftab opens up to Koimoi.com for a freewheeling chat!

Grand Masti is the sequel to Masti, which was also a sexually oriented comedy but on a much lesser perversion quotient. But Grand Masti is a total bomb blast. How was the experience?
(Laughs out loud) You exactly put it the right way. It was such a bomb blast, a kind of explosion on the sets. Grand Masti is one film we all were looking to get back to. And it was great to have come back after a gap of nine years and ten films in between. Of course, it is much more bold and outrageous but more than anything else, the film's aim is to be much funnier than the first part. We have seen the film and Masti is not even one-third as funny as Grand Masti. That is what I personally believe.

You reprise your role from Masti but the diversion in the plot seems to be that in the prequel, you had the same girlfriend (Lara Dutta), here you have one girlfriend each. And today that sex comedies are actually working, how do you think will the audience react to Grand Masti?
I think that people would find the film hugely entertaining and there has always been a change of trend. No one would have accepted the film had it released five years back. But today films of different genres are widely accepted by the audience as well. But it is yet again very difficult to rule out something as a trend too. We have made an attempt and we hope and pray it does well. I guess the audiences are ready for films like this now.

Grand Masti is all about cheap jokes, double meaning dialogues and straight out of the loo toilet humour. Is this film made actually for the audiences only and not the critics?
Usually people make films for audiences. So Grand Masti is all for the audiences out there. Plus it is very difficult to judge what kind of films a critic likes because critics are also normal people who have their own set of opinions which vary from person to person. It may appeal to some and it might not appeal to some. This Fate is same for all films. But Grand Masti is a typical massy entertainer, one that you come and have fun watching for the two hours of its runtime. There is no social message in Grand Masti, so it would be wrong to consider it a path breaking cinema.

What are your expectations from Grand Masti?
Well, we have already done our respective parts and the film is ready. So we hope the film does well at the box office. When a film does well at the BO, automatically everyone gets appreciated. But there are films where actors are appreciated although the film tanks at the BO. So a box office hit is what we want first and automatically, we will get all our due recognitions as well.
