Typical Maharashtra married women don't wear sindoor normally, it is the bangles, bindi, mangalsutr and the toe rings.. (I wear toe ring, mangalsutr, on & off with bindi and bangles even in US)...

But what I find little dissonant is the blouse, makeup etc of the bahu.. it seems too modern for such a rigid house... the other thing I noticed when Astha came to the house & for prashad, she covers her head (to the approval of Anjali) but she is wearing her chappals... a big no..no.. for getting prasad 😆...

Sorry.. kind of observe all these details... because my very strict grandma used to yell at me (& my poor mom - for not teaching me these things) for these types of infractions...

In Maharashtrian sindoor is not mandatory...its a diff thing nowadys many Marathi women started wearing it...but just as a fashion or say trend set by sas bahu serials😆...BTW I am Marathi😛

One more thing there is no tradition of doing Tap Tap on plate while having food by male In Maharashtrians😆

@yashi tap tap was outrageous IMO. Never heard or seen or imagined anything like this. Must be only "Agnihotri family tradition" where men wear pants literally and figuratively.
@seema, i did not notice sindoor missing at all. Have been too preoccupied observing other incongruities in this odd family, also DIL's tight blowse etc. gosh!

Actually, now Sindoor and Mangalsutra has become a must for serial bahus. In many states, sindoor is a must but not mangalsutra. Yet even if the show is set in those places, they wear that.
So in that sense it is good that they are not showing sindoor for a Maharastrian family. As far as the blouse is concerned, that is another in thing for bahu these days. But I have a different view about modern dress vs. conservative values.
I have had a classmate that used to wear really short skirts in college. I used to think that she come from a very liberal household. Later on after interacting with her, I realized that her family was very conservative families where her father would not even allow a male classmate to come to her house even if it was just to borrow some notes. Also, she got married to the guy with the same mindset. So she wears the most modern dresses, has a career but environment at home is quite conservative where the husband is the king.
So wearing modern blouses does not necessarily imply that the thinking is liberal too.
