Karan Johar and Lakhia's 'heavy' friendship

Looking at Karan Johar today, it is very difficult to hazard a guess that this talented director was a rotund 150-kilo weighing youngster once upon a time. A couple of days back Karan posted a picture from his archives on Twitter which shows a really plump Karan sitting alongside a young Shah Rukh Khan. The picture reminded us of a conversation we had with Karan some time back where he shared an interesting anecdote about his eating habits, back from his school days.

The story goes back in time when Karan was in his sixth grade. The class he was in had a lot of Gujarati kids and they used to share their food during lunch break. According to Karan, he used to see a lot of yellow stuff in their tiffin boxes and was scared that his hands would also turn yellow if he shared his lunch box with them. So poor Karan used to end up eating his lunch box all alone as he had no friends to share it with. The jinx however was finally broken when one day their school principal walked into their class and asked out aloud, Who would like to befriend Karan?' A kid named Apoorva put his hand up and he was the first person with whom Karan started sharing his lunch box.

As time flew by, Karan thankfully managed to shed his extra kilos but what has remained intact is his friendship with Apoorva who today is the CEO of Dharma productions. Now that's what we call true friendship developed over a sumptuous lunchbox.
