Funny, isn't it. The expensive Rolls Royce that filmmaker Vidhu Vinod Chopra gifted Amitabh Bachchan three days ago is now back in the showroom.
The Bachchans were in the news this week for two very expensive cars – Rolls Royce and Bentley.
It was initially reported that Bentley was a gift from papa Amitabh to son Abhishek Bachchan on his birthday. Later, it turned out that the car belonged to Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh, who is a very close friend (almost a family member) of the Bachchans. Then, reports came that Bentley was a gift from Amar Singh to Abhishek. But this, too, turned out to be wrong.
In a press conference, Amar Singh has denied gifting the car to Abhishek. He says he has kept his car at the Bachchan residence for his personal use and in the meantime if Abhishek (whom he called as beta) wishes to use the vehicle, he (Abhi) is free to do so.
Bentley brouhaha over, now let's move to the royal Rolls Royce which Vidhu Vinod Chopra so flamboyantly gifted to Amitabh in the presence of media persons and cameramen early this week.
After the presentation of the gift, the car was quietly driven back to the showroom where it came from.
It is now learnt that the car was just a "token gift". The Rolls Royce that Vidhu actually intends to gift Mr. Bachchan will come in a few days.
It appears that Chopra was looking to create some publicity ahead of the release of his movie Eklavya on the coming Friday.
The filmmaker does have a business acumen which he uses with his typical sense of humour.
Anyway, we will wait to see the other Rolls Royce that he wishes to gift the Big B.
