The happy Ruqaiyya-Jalal
Ruqaiyya not feeling well has been shot well...one can see that her health slowly deteriorates as the time goes by during the first half of the episode...Jalal tending to Ruqaiyya was very tender too (as an Akdha fan, I did feel a bit odd lol)...however, their moments together were very tender...their words being those that most new expectant parents tend to discuss about 😳
'I don't know why...but it feels like you have a heart too Jalal' she says at the end of it all
'When it comes to one's own child, then yes...it seems like my heart does beat for it...' he agrees
Hearing that from her best friend, Ruqaiyya places her head on his shoulder and he hugs her...😊
[However, him declaring that he would not move from Agra for a year sounded more like what a 21st century husband would declare rather than 16th century one lol]
I liked Jalal treating Hameeda's close friend so well too...have never seen their interaction in the past
Jalal's dilemma
Jalal feeling a weird mix of happiness & fear - finding himself unable to concentrate on anything - and thus calling for both his mothers to try and understand why he felt so was a very adorable scene indeed...
MA and Ammi Jaan appear really happy for him indeed! (Darn MA - you put on such a show)
Ruqaiyya's miscarriage
Needless to say - Ruqaiyya's miscarriage was a quite shocking and quite realistically shot scene...however, her calling out to Jalal when she first discovers the truth again seemed a bit 21st century rather than 16th. Shouldn't she be calling out to her mother-in-law/maids-in-waiting/female attendants first?
Anyway, one scene that REALLY touched me was when the heartbroken Ruq did not want to let go of Jalal's hand (he had to leave since the khwaja-shera had to examine her) but she held on to him...(must be a genuine treat for Ruqlal fans)
Proper husband-wife they looked there!
Jalal nervously traipsing outside Ruqaiyya's chamber as he waits for the doctor/MA to pronounce their verdict was very nail-biting too...he genuinely appears like he's losing a loved one there!
No sooner than he hears of the tragedy Jalal sways for a moment in disbelief and then slumps to the floor in shock - it is MA who tends to him... (Darn MA - she appears to be genuinely shedding tears for him!)
'He is the merciful Allah, right?' Jalal asks in anguish 'Then why didn't he show us some mercy...he could have at least thought about Ruqaiyya for once...she has been praying to him for a child for so long' he weeps 'Let him take away my Sultanat...my throne...my position...my power...but I wish he'd return my lost child to me!'
Jalal's grief was well taken...they've shown him in shock and tears...and he cares for Ruq so much too!
The scandal is out
So, looks like Ekta's creatives have decided to take the poison-MC-blame Jodha route! Grrr...
Anyway, the doctor certifies that Ruqaiyya did not have a natural MC and that 'arkh' was administered to Ruqaiyya - an ingredient that is generally a sleep-inducer, but also dangerous for the health of a foetus!
'This 'Arkh' is not manufactured within the Sultanat...its definitely something that's been imported from outside...' the doctor states with certainty 'The effects come on pretty quickly, so it must have been in the last food/drink that Begum Ruq took'
Jalal instantly suspects Jodha and her family (with flash/backs of the utsav scene) and needless to say, MA adds fuel to the fire too 'I checked everything blah blah...it must have been added later...blah..blah'
Why, MA is even prepared to drink some milk with the saffron in it to prove that it had some intoxicant in it!
Jalal goes to pacify Ruqaiyya
When a grim Jalal enters Ruqaiyya's chamber she abuses her fate and Jodha 'Why have you come here after knowing the truth...why have you not gone to the criminal and punished her yet?'
'Get a hold on yourself Ruqaiyya' he tells her
'How can a mother who's just lost her child compose herself...I don't want your support now...I want your justice now...' she sobs vehemently 'I ask this not as your wife, but as your subject!'
The precap is pretty scary - In the past 2 months, we've never seen Jalal scream 'JODHA' in that manner!
Overall, a disturbing episode...but well shot nevertheless...
I still wish they didn't succumb to drama (of MA poisoning Ruq etc etc) and let the story follow what's been written in history books...but everyone needs to earn some money, don't they?
And high TRPs are all that I'm genuinely concerned about...so thrilling stuff this scandal!
Hope they don't wrap it in a day like the Mothi Bai Saga 😕
