SS: Unspoken part 21
Adi softly grazed his little chubby hand over Arnav's sleeping face. "Abba," he said quietly and started tapping his face instead. Arnav opened his eyes and looked right into the happy ones of his little brother. "Why are you sleeping here?" He asked innocently.
Arnav picked up Adi and laid him next to him as he hugged him close and drifted back to sleep. "Abba!" Adi called, tapping his arm this time. He tried to squirm out of his hold but it was too hard for him.
"Aditya, stop!" Arnav lazily scolded and felt the little one obey and completely relax against his arms. He was almost back to sleep when his mother's call interrupted his sleep. With a sigh he sat up and Adi ran away so he wouldn't be trapped again.
Arnav rubbed his face as Avni came to sit next to him. "What happened?" She asked quietly and put her hand on his shoulder for support. Arnav side glanced at his mother and slowly shook his head. "I made a big mistake."
"What did you do?" Avni worriedly asked.
"I married Khushi," he spat out and Avni's eyebrows furrowed. "Why would you say such a thing?"
Arnav wasn't going to hide such a big truth from his mother. In any way, how long could he seriously go on without her finding out? She was already curious as to why he was sleeping on the couch and really; nothing was going to stop her from questioning him about last night's behavior. "She's Sadasyan," he said simply and looked at his mother when he only got silence.
She was frozen on the spot and her eyes simply stared at him but then her face relaxed. "So?"
Arnav immediately gaped at her. "So?!" He yelled incredulously and she looked away as she knew he wouldn't drop it without a very loud explanation.
"Did you not hear where she's from? Sadasya! The land where its so-called leader killed my father!" He abruptly stood up as his hands flailed with every word. He saw Adi standing by the door looking as tense as his mother was.
"Arnav, relax," his mother tried to console him but he went on fuming. Meanwhile, Adi took a couple steps back before he walked towards Arnav's room and walked right in without a knock. Khushi woke up in a startle and took a sigh of relief when she noticed it was just Adi.
"You're from the place that abba hates so much," he said bluntly and walked closer until he reached her side. Khushi looked at him with sad eyes and nodded her head. "Does he hate you?" He asked and Khushi's stomach lurched at the thought. Her tears spilled over and she tried to hastily wipe them clean.
Adi lifted a hand and wiped under her eyes where her tears were smeared. "I don't hate you," he said and Khushi thought she'd die on the spot. That was a difference between a child who judged a character by their personality and not their background information.
She pulled him for a tight hug for being the only one so understanding towards her.
"Aditya," Arnav's firm voice made Khushi look up and feel Adi slip out of her arms as he silently walked past Arnav. He looked at Khushi but had to look away because he couldn't see her the same anymore. Not only was she a Sadasyan, she was a liar too. But that's only expected from a Sadasyan,' Arnav thought.
She stared down at the bed then got up and folded the sheets before she walked up to him - that too with hesitation. "What can I do to fix this?" She asked and he looked down at her with wide eyes. "Fix this? You can't fix this! Are you going to go back in time and not lie? Or are you going to go back in time and never be born!"
She stared blankly at him as much as his words were like daggers to her heart. "We're going to be miserable if we live like this."
Arnav sarcastically chuckled. "I won't be miserable - I've lived like this before; this is me!" He shouted as he patted his chest. "But yes, you may live a miserable life," he said as he poked her shoulder. She jerked away making Arnav's inner beast awaken. He grabbed her shoulder and she started pushing at his chest for him to let go but he wouldn't. "You're hurting me!" She hissed as she bore her wet eyes in his. He stared back at her until his hand loosened and dropped from her shoulder. "And what about me? You didn't hurt me?" He asked quietly but turned before her expression could show how apologetic she was.
He grabbed his clothes from their wardrobe before heading out when he was stopped in the hallway by his mother. "This is a home - not a zoo. You will not yell at anyone."
"Don't tell me what to do, ammi," he said and began to walk away before she pulled him back. "Don't tell you what to do? Who will then? Do I not have a say in my own home?"
"She's my wife - I'll do whatever I want," he hissed but Avni kept her tone neutral. "You don't treat her like a wife."
"She deserves worse," he said through clenched teeth then saw his mother's eyes flicker behind him. He looked back and saw Khushi standing some steps behind him. He gently removed his mother's hand from his arm before he continued his walk to the bathroom.
Avni walked towards Khushi and led her back to her room so they could sit in privacy. "Why did you hide your identity?" Avni asked, slightly heartbroken herself.
"The hate between this land and Sadasya is evident to everyone on both sides. I don't know if it was coincidence or fate that I ended up in this particular house where the man absolutely hates all Sadasyans. Everyone knows Arnav there just like everyone here knows about Surya. When he told me his name, I knew I couldn't say anything - I'd only be sent back. But the lie only grew bigger to the point that he even married me. I feel guilty because now I've ruined both our lives."
"Khushi you need to understand one thing; if you were just a Sadasyan girl who's truth came out, Arnav would have his moment, then yes, he would send you back. But in this case, you're not a regular Sadasyan - you're his wife and you're someone he loves so that's why it's more painful for him. I can't be too sure of how he'll remain forever but I'm almost sure he'll come around." Avni reassuringly rubbed Khushi's back who bent her head down on Avni's shoulder as tears formed in her eyes yet again.
"I'm so sorry - be mad, but please forgive me in the end," she said in a small voice and felt Avni slightly chuckle. "What are you saying Khushi? I already forgive you. You're the daughter I never had. I love you because of your kind personality, not because of where you're from."
Khushi smiled at Avni's words as they reminded her of Adi. She internally thanked God that Adi took after Avni and not his crazy brother.
They went to the kitchen to prepare breakfast but the slamming door suggested that Arnav wasn't going to eat with them.
He strode towards Akash's home and knocked on their door. Akash opened it and Arnav nodded his head, motioning him to come out. They sat on the porch steps. "Are you okay?" Akash asked.
"I'm going to tell you something that I don't want you to tell anyone else...Khushi's from Sadasya," he declared and Akash's eyes widened. "Who told you?"
"Vijay did. I didn't believe him but when I asked her, she admitted to it."
"Damn Vijay! How the hell did he find out? I didn't even hint to it," Akash said and Arnav's head snapped to stare at him. "What did you say? You knew about this?"
Akash's face fell and he started stammering. "I only found out two days ago and I was going to tell you but I didn't want to ruin your life with this."
Arnav stood up and Akash quickly followed. "Akash, I'd rather hear it from you than from Vijay! And now it makes me wonder who the true friend is! The guy told me on the spot, but you? How long would you have kept this from me?"
Akash's eyebrows shot up and his mouth hung open. "It makes you wonder who the true friend is? Vijay is a friend now? Have you lost your mind?!" Akash shouted and Arnav clenched his jaw. "Don't speak to me in that tone."
"Oh of course not - what am I to you now? Obviously not a true friend because I didn't tell you a truth that I knew would create hell on earth for you and your wife!"
"Don't create a scene, Akash," Arnav said in a dangerous tone and Akash just stood there, shaking his head poorly at him. "Look around you Arnav and realize the people who actually love you."
"I'm not a man who loves anymore because anyone I've ever loved, they've only betrayed me. I won't make the same mistake as my father," he said and pursed his lips as his eyes slightly stung with tears. He left that place too leaving Akash feel bad for his best friend. He knew he was only reacting on the spot. Arnav may yell, or scream at Akash, but Akash loved Arnav too much like a brother to ever turn his back on him. If only Arnav could notice that.

A few days passed without much improvement. Arnav and Khushi would not speak a word to each other and their nights were spent apart with Khushi in the room and Arnav on the couch. While Avni, Adi, and Khushi's relationships were the same as before, Arnav was different with even his mother and brother. Because Khushi was always around them, he never dropped his rough facade.
Avni watched with a frown as Arnav sat on one side of the dining table and Khushi sat on the other end; quietly eating their food. Adi came inside and Arnav picked him up as he sat him on his lap and placed a plate of paratha for him to eat.
Adi pulled Arnav's head down so he can whisper in his ear. "Abba, didi is crying." Arnav glanced at Khushi and saw hand wiping under her eye. He turned his attention to his brother. "Just eat your food."
And he did, along with everyone else. They had yet another silent meal. Arnav left the house and took a car to drive him to the farm side where he'd be able to speak to Vijay. He found him in the barn house brushing down the horses. "I need to ask you something," Arnav said and Vijay turned his head and showed off a fake smile.
"Go ahead."
"I need you to come on the city trip again. Things are a little tense between Akash and I," he quietly admitted. Vijay started walking towards him. "It will be for awhile. I hope you can look past it all in the end."
Arnav shrugged his shoulders. "Anyway, that's not the topic of discussion. I just came to ask if you could do this month too?"
"Of course!" Vijay exclaimed. "For the first time in a long time, I can enjoy my trip without having us throw each other death glares." He chuckled but Arnav only joined him with a small smile. "Right. Anyhow, that's all. Thanks for your help."

Arnav prepared to sleep on the couch again when Khushi's figure appeared before him. "You can return to your room," she said and he tried not to make eye contact. "I don't want to."
"You're acting like a child," she retorted and his eyes suddenly penetrated into hers with fierceness. "Watch your words."
"Or else what? Will you hit me? Yell at me? Send me back?" She challenged.
"Don't act smart," he said and pushed her out of the way but her stubbornness took over as she grabbed onto his wrist. He tried to pull away but she put all her strength into holding on. "Khushi!" He hissed and she shushed him to be quiet because Avni and Adi were already asleep.
"I'll sleep here with you if you don't come to our room," she threatened and he pulled his arm forward making her crash into his chest. "Don't think that you'll make this better with your jokes."
"How do you expect me to make it better then?" She asked and he just took a step back before walking around her towards the hallway. She internally smiled at her accomplishment. He slept on his side but with his back to her. She knew what she wanted to do was risky but she was going to do it anyway. She threw her arm around him and even though he kept trying to remove it, she would just tighten her hold.
She leaned up on her elbow as she got close to his ear. "You hate me because I'm Sadasyan but you loved me as me. I never lied about anything else. Please Arnav." She whispered but his closed eyes meant that he wasn't up for a discussion.
"Every place has its good and bad people so please don't judge the rest of Sadasyans as bad people when you only truly hate one. Despite the way you reacted, I know it was because the only thing running through your mind is hate. But you said your heart beats for me - doesn't it still?" Her voice cracked in the end making her unable to continue. She wanted so badly for him to just turn around and hug her but she knew it wasn't going to happen.
Letting him go, she turned the other way and hugged the blanket to herself. He was always her means of comfort and warmth, but when she'd get that again; she didn't know.

Hi friends! Ok I do not condemn violence so other than the usual shoulder or wrist grabbing, I'll never write about an Arnav who forces himself upon his wife. He's not like that. And as mad as he is, like his mother said, he's mostly hurt. He's fighting on the inside - trying to figure out what he wants.
I'm losing my train of thought. I'm in a rush because my cousins are over so take care all! Will update soon so read this soon! 😃
