Chapter 13
Arjun and Roshni were walking on the road. Roshni was struggling how to hold her handbag and carry bag; it was damn heavy. And in addition to that, every time she would pace up, the straps of her hand bag would slip down off her shoulders.
"Uffo!!" Roshni muttered.
It was the third time that it had fallen down. She stopped and pulled it up again. Arjun was walking ahead of her so he didn't notice. As she was busy getting the straps right, she didn't notice the street lamp right in front of her and walked straight into it. BANG! And she banged her head "Oooh!"
She rubbed her forehead and annoyingly looked at the pole, as if it was pole's fault. She moved back but mistakenly stepped at the edge of the footpath, which made her loose her balance. She shut her eyes tight but before she could hit the ground, a hand gripped her hand tightly.
A few moments ago
Arjun was walking ahead of her. The house was visible now at a distance. He said looking at it "Wo raha... Maine kaha tha na zyada durr nhi hai..."
He turned to look for her and found her standing there, busy, deciding how to make that bag stick to her shoulders. He shook his head in amusement that how easily everything becomes troublesome for her. He left his bag there and was walking up to her to help her with that bag but instead saw her walking right into the pole. He wanted to warn her but no, she was faster than him and banged her head before he could say anything. And before Arjun could react anymore, he noticed that the very next moment she would step back, she may lose her balance. He immediately rushed to the pole and caught her hand in time.
Roshni slowly opened her eyes realizing the denial in her fall. Her eyes got bigger in amazement when she saw what she saw. She found Arjun holding on to the pole with his left hand and her right hand with his right. He was holding the pole firmly to support himself as well as her. He was slightly leaning on to her and she was at almost one hand distance from him, hanging at the other end of his hand. If it was not for Arjun, she must have fallen down on the road.
And Arjun, of course, he panicked. Lately, even the slightest thing that can harm her, used to scare him. Though it wasn't such a big incident and nothing happened as such but his heart had stopped for a moment. He slowly pulled her to him. She was still breathing heavily. He didn't say anything but kept looking in her eyes... he just wanted to know that she is ok...
Roshni, on the other hand, had noticed something else in his eyes. She noticed his eyes had this fear... the fear as if he was just going to lose someone... someone really close... but why... and was he tensed or was it just her who could see some tension on his face...
They kept on standing there, still holding each other's hand and looking in each other's eyes for a moment. It was when Roshni sensed someone else's presence near them that she snapped out. She turned sideways and found one man standing just at their side, staring at them. He was wearing shabby clothes and had long hairs. He was all dirty and god knows why he had to smile at them too, to show his black teeth. Roshni screamed and immediately stepped back. Arjun was too busy to notice him. It was when he saw Roshni's reaction that he noticed. The man smiled again and tried to reach out to her. But Arjun came in front of Roshni and blocked his view.
"Kya chahiye?"
His strong voice and angry glares made him wipe that smile off his face. He stepped back and within a moment was out of sight. Arjun gave a sideways look to her and she immediately left his shirt that she herself was unaware how got in her hands. It seemed two consecutive incidents had not given her much time to react; she was a bit scared. Arjun turned completely to her and asked in a concerned voice.
"Tum theek to ho na Rosh...ni?"
Roshni just nodded her head. Arjun wasn't satisfied with her answer but he couldn't do anything. How could he tell her how much he cared for her, missed her, missed their closeness and to top it all, missed their relationship... He was incomplete without her...without his Rosh...
Khwab hai tu, neend hun main...
Dono milein, raat banein...
Roz yahi, maangu dua...
Teri meri, baat banein...
Baat banein...
She snapped out once again and said "Aapke Rosh' aur Ni' k beech me hamesha ye gap kyu hota hai?" She picked her hand bag saying that. Arjun quickly picked her carry bag before she could do and stepped ahead "Ye main le leta hu..Chalo!" Roshni simply followed him, not getting an answer to her question.

Finally Arjun and Roshni reached there. They were standing at the door step. Roshni seemed to be nervous as who will open the door, what would they think of her, then Arjun's girlfriend and where were her so called friends who left her with Arjun...
Arjun pressed the door bell button...Rathor opened the door ... "Kya? Itna tym laga diya..."
"Arre unhe andar toh aane do!" Maoushi said.
Arjun shook his head and grinned at Rathor. He turned to look at Roshni who was trying to get as much of the view of the house from outside as possible. "Aao!"
"Maoushi!" He entered the house calling her.
Maoushi came out in the drawing room and looked at him. Her eyes welled up with tears of happiness. It was after so many days that she was seeing him. She looked him from head to toe, trying to capture his image in her eyes. Arjun came forward and wiped her tears "Arre ye kisliye? Mujhe nhi pata the main aapko itna bura lagta hu.."
"Chalo fir ye to pakka ho gaya ki main toh Maoushi ko pasand hu kyuki mere time par to ye sab nhi hua..." Rathor grinned and slumped in the sofa to view the emotional meet.
Arjun threw his bag on him which Rathor caught just in time. He hugged Maoushi's small and skinny body within his arms tightly, kept his chin on her head and smiled "I missed you Maoushi. Aap kyu nhi Mumbai aa jati rehne... mere paas..."
"Taki tu Delhi aa sake mere paas..."
"Hmm ye accha hai... Main aata rahu aap mat aana haan..."

Aisha received Roshni at the door so she doesn't feel out of the place. Roshni gave her a look for leaving her alone with Arjun but Aisha just smiled "Bohot derr kar di!
Roshni just made a face pointing at Arjun. But then she observed how happy he was with that old lady. Aisha looked at her and then tried to do the introduction "Ye..."
"I know!" She had heard Arjun and Rathor calling her Maoushi but she muttered to herself "Saasu maa!" and chuckled.

Maoushi smiled and then looked at Roshni who was still standing at the door. Roshni immediately folded her hands and slightly bowed her head "Namaste!" Maoushi looked at Arjun and he just nodded his head with closed eyes assuring that everything is fine.
She came near her and gently moved her hand on her head "Kaisi ho?"
Roshni felt an urge within her... she bent down and touched her feet. She got up and smiled "Theek hu Aunty ji!"
Maoushi hugged her and whispered in her ears "Maoushi!" Roshni was not getting why she was hugging her but still her caring nature and her love and affection made her feel good. She alternated the looks between Aisha and Maoushi. Aisha gave her a Go on!' nod. Roshni then hugged Maoushi back with a big smile on her face. This was the best thing that had happened to her in the whole day.
Arjun have a sigh of relief and smiled looking at Rathor. Rathor then broke the family moment and spoke up "Ab to dinner kar sakte hai?"
Roshni (looking around) : "Aap sab logo ne b nhi ..."
Aisha : "Nhi sab to nhi! Shree ki tabiyat theek nhi hai toh use medicines le kar sona tha, but wo akele b nhi khana chahta tha toh Chotu aur Shree dono ne dinner kar liya..."
Roshni : "Kyu Shree ko kya hua?"
Aisha mouthed that she will tell her later.
Arjun : "Aur..."
Maoushi : "Haan haan un logo ne kha b liya aur tumhara intezaar karte karte thak kar so b gaye..."
Arjun : "Main milkar aata hu..."
Maoushi : "Arre pehle kha to lo...Sameer aur Aisha kabse rasta dekh rahe hai tum logo ka..."
Arjun and Roshni freshen up quickly and they all have dinner together. After that everybody retired to their rooms respectively. But Arjun wanted to see the kids once. He carefully opened the door so that not to make any noise and sneaked in. Gia was sleeping on the bed hugging her teddy bear. He walked up to her bed and placed a kiss on her forehead. The innocence and cuteness on her face made him smile. He covered her with her blanket and got up to leave. But Gia held her hand. Arjun turned and saw Gia slowly opening her eyes "Papa!"
"So jao!" He gently moved his hand on her hairs. But she quickly got up and hugged him.
Arjun sensed that something was disturbing her "Kya hua? Bura sapna dekha kya?"
But she started crying on his shoulders.
"Gia!" Arjun was getting tensed now. "Kya hua? Idher dekho...batao mujhe!"
"Mummy ko kya hua hai Papa?" She spoke up in between her sobs.
Arjun realized that she knew something. He thought that it is the time to tell her about it... she might understand... Or maybe not... he'll hurt her too in the process... but this was the need of the moment... He picked her in his arms and took her to lawn's swing.
