Rajesh Khattar Rajesh Khattar features as the scheming Parvatlal in the Sony daily Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin. His one-point agenda is to prove that teacher Neha Shastri (Mona Singh) is actually Jassi. Post her marriage fiasco with Armaan (Apoorva Agnihotri); Jassi was packed off to a hill-station where she teaches at a school under the pseudonym Neha. Family tree What's interesting is that actor-writer Khattar is Bollywood heartthrob Shahid Kapur's stepfather. After her break-up with Pankaj Kapur; Shahid's mother Neelima Azim married Khattar. Ishaan Khattar They have a son Ishaan, who makes his acting debut in Mahesh Manjrekar's film Life Ho Toh Aisi, which also stars Shahid. Khattar and Azim have separated. Azim later married Raza Ali Khan, the grandson of vocalist Bade Ghulam Ali. When asked about his family tree, Khattar says, "Let's keep that away. It'll get too complicated if you include everyone." Instead, he prefers to talk about his role in Jassi, "I am back on the small screen after a gap. I am doing a negative role for the first time. The response has been tremendous," says Khattar who last featured in the serial Mafia on Sahara. "It's fun being Parvatlal. There is huge scope for performance. I am constantly frightening and tormenting Jassi," he laughs. Brothers bond Shahid Kapur But goad him to divulge details about the family-front and he says, "My son Ishaan is only 11 years old and I want him to be away from all this. He is still young and needs his mother with whom he stays. But he keeps visiting me, especially on weekends. All I can say is that Shahid and Ishaan share a wonderful bond. Shahid does make it a point to take time out for Ishaan." Talent spotting Incidentally, Manjrekar spotted Ishaan when he accompanied Shahid for the shoot of Life Ho Toh Aisi. "Mahesh found Ishaan to be extremely confident and cool. He saw him looking at the monitor, completely clued in with the goings on. Manjrekar immediately offered, "Acting karoge?", to which Ishaan agreed. As a result, the two brothers are a part of Life Ho Toh Aisi." Phir Wohi Talaash It is learnt that Khattar had met Azim on the sets of Lekh Tandon's Phir Wohi Talash (Doordarshan) in which they both starred in 1991. They separated after nine years of marriage. "There are many things which change in life; equations change," he says philosophically. Khattar has also featured in two plays, Please Divorce Me Darling and Love Hua Once More, produced and directed by Vandana Sajnani, with whom he is often spotted. "We are very good friends. We are professionally together and we also party together," he says. "I was not the original choice for her play, Please Divorce Me Darling. I was just hanging around at the rehearsals. It was much later that Vandana thought of casting me!" At the moment, Khattar is looking forward to writing besides acting. "TV has changed tremendously. Its technique and presentation is now on par with films." BYE, ANJANA

There is nothing to explain. All the characters are performing negative roles and there sole purpose is tormenting Jassi or the audience.
