Neeru teams up with Apache Indian By: Tushar Joshi February 7, 2007
Neeru Bajwa
Neeru Bajwa admits she's a huge fan of British Indian artist Apache Indian. "I grew up listening to Arranged Marriage and Chak De. Those were really hot songs when I was growing up, so when I got a chance to work with him, I jumped at the opportunity."
Idol worship
Sporting a new lean look for the video titled Main tenu nachdi, Neeru says, "Apache was really chilled out and his passion for music is amazing. We sat down and discussed the kind of music that gets us moving. The song I shot for is a Punjabi song with Apache's trademark rap."
Did she pick up any cues on how to rap herself? "Not really, I think I will leave that to him!" After having worked in a TIPS film Dil Apna Punjabi, Neeru has signed a contract with them for a slate of future projects. "My film has really done well and recently had a DVD release as well. I am quite excited about the next few projects that I am doing with them."
Prior to Apache's new video, Neeru also shot for an Atif Aslam video. "It's from the album Doorie, which is doing pretty well on the music charts. I had done Punjabi music videos in the beginning of my career, so getting back to doing them is good fun."
Does she plan to do more videos in the future? "Not really. I did these just for fun. Apache was someone I adored growing up and I love Atif's music, which is why I did them."
Weighty issue
Bajwa faced some serious flak last year for putting on excess weight, most apparent during the first season of Nach Baliye. Admitting that she wasn't thrilled with her weight being discussed in public, Neeru says, "I did get hurt when people said nasty things about me, but I took it in a positive way and decided to work out."
These days, Neeru trains with her personal trainer who has kept her under a strict diet plan. "He's really good and I am happy with the results.
Right now, I have reached a point where I can eat anything I want and keep my weight stable. After you work hard to reach a certain number on the scale, you definitely don't want to go back to where you started."
