I don't want to be judgemental or anything but I can't stop myself from writing this post. And if the mods think it's not acceptable, please feel free to close the topic. I will understand.

It is said that you are judged by the company you keep. The other day, while ficking thro the channels, I saw a programme called 'Cook Na kaho', hosted by Shayan Munshi, model-actor, who, today is better known as the witness in the Jessica Lal case who turned hostile. It was his 'bayan' that turned the whole case for the worse and let the culprit off. If the courts find him guilty of perjury, he'll serve upto 7 years in jail!

The point is this....in the programme mentioned above, he conducted a cookery session at the end of which, he invited 2 friends, one of whom was Salil

I was a little shocked at that. I guess it's Salil's business who his friends are, no doubt. But, somehow, considering all that happened...specially when this guy misled the investigators and aiding the guilty, it didn't sit well with me.

I'd love to read your opinions on this issue....that is if the mods don't close the topic. If they do, I'll understand.

Pippa Ji, Thank you first of all for this post.. I wasnt aware of this Salil's angle to the whole thing...

But yeah, Shayaan Munshi, the dude... was in the news and yeah it didnt sit well that the chap turned hostile at the last minute.. Well its none of our business , to decide.. but we are entitled to our opinions.... and although I like Shayaan Munshi as a model for his good looks... its hard not to ignore the fact , he did not stand by someone... who was a friend... hmmm....

As for Salil being his friend... Hmm... I think the whole thing is scripted... and also... well since Salil was into modelling for a while... may be they do know each other.... I would say that... and since I have not watched the show... I cant really comment more than this... I think I'd give benefit of doubt... w.r.t Salil...

Hmmn...hardly anyone these days has the ethics to stand up for what is "right", even if it means going against your own 'friends', etc...moreover, this is the glamour world, who is friend...who is foe is hard to distinguish...everything is scripted, everything is for publicity...to garner more viewers...Perhaps the producers of the show wanted Salil to be Shayan's friend, and for a resonable price, he might have been, for a day.

Hi,
As somebody who used to watch the show almost every weekend... I would like to give my two cents to the entire topic...

Shayan Munshi was the host of a cookery show called 'Cook na kaho with Karen Anand'

Karen Anand was the author who's recepies he used to try out and like we have a guest every week on khana khazana, this was tried in Cook na... as well...
so every week, initially we would have two guests... and then it trickled down to one by the time Shayan was on the show...

The show started off with Upen Patel... as the host...

Every guest who came on would be introduced as 'My good friend', and this does not mean that they are actually good friends... I know that when I have a group of friends that I am introducing to somebody, everybody becomes my good friend, because I do not want to distinguish between my friends when in a group, so my best friend and my acquaintance are both my good friends...

I think the same was the case with the show and Salil being on the show.

Also, I kinda disagree with the comment 'show me your friends and I will tell you what you are...' Maybe coz I had to hear it a lot from my brother... just because my friends would bunk school and while away their time, they don't stop being my friends... as long as I am ok with who they are, and they are ok with what I am...
At the same time, it does not mean that I bunk all the time and do the same stuff that they do all the time...

Also, coming back to the issue of Shayan Munshi vis-a-vis the Jessica Lal Case, I do not condone his act...

What is of concern to me is that he blatantly lied and seems to take the judicial system of the country for a ride... at least his taking back the statement implied this to me...

I liked it when the sting operation was done on him and he was proven for the lies that he had uttered in court... every one of them, on national TV. Didn't he realize that his reputation would go down the drain if the truth comes out?

phew... But as far as Salil is concerned, his actions, except for his one brush with the law (Big boss versus Ekta Kapoor), has been beyond reproach...
and what I liked was that, in his comeback episode, in KAA, he said 'Main kuch legal matters main phans gaya tha!' lol

This topic is only connected to this forum because Salil was on the cooking show and his introduction there, but otherwise majority of the subject is directed towards the case and Mr. Munshi because of which I will have to close the topic. If you would like I can move this post to the Debate Mansion (where I think it will be a good topic). Please PM me if you want me to do that.
