They did show Ahilya becoming a rock earlier, which had angered Parvati, due to Rishi Gautama's cruelty and ingratitude towards his wife. Wonder if they'll show Rama free her, or have they forgotten it? I didn't watch the episode.

No I wanted to read some episodes from Uttarakanda.

Ahalya...
Well, I heard that Ahalya didn't become a stone actually. In Valmiki, Gautama cursed her saying, "You shall be invisible to the eyes of all people." So she became invisible. But some people interpreted it as being a stone. Even saying that she became a stone is not wrong actually, because even then she was invisible to everyone as Ahalya. This point was explained by Smt Vishaka Hari in her Harikatha on Seeta Kalyanam.

Had Ravan attended the swayamvar, that wouldn't have been a surprise - he'd have known how Sita looks.

Yes, Ravan had attended Devi Sita's Swayamvar. He thoughts that as he's MAhadev's mahan bhakt, he'll be able to lift the bow quite easily but he couldn't bcz of his ego.

Shri Ram could bcz 1st he did puja of the bow & then did namaskar & later lifted the bow. This indeed, broke Ravan's ego & he was insulted in front of everyone. While trying to lift the bow, Ravan even fell down, which made everyone laugh at him.

From Balakand Sarg 48

29. shakram tathaa shaptvaa = Indra, thus, on cursing; bhaaryaam api ca shaptavaan = wife, even, also, he cursed; iha = here;bahuuni varSa sahasraaNi = many, years, thousands of; nivaSisyasi = you will live - tarry on; vaayu bhakSaa nir aahaaraa = air, consuming, without, food; bhasma shaayinii = on ashes - dust, recumbent; tapyantii = searing [contritely]; sarva bhuutaanaam = for all, by beings; a dR^ishyaa = un, seen; asmin aashrame vaSisyasi = in this, hermitage, you live on.

"On cursing Indra thus the sage cursed even his wife saying, 'you shall tarry here for many thousands of years to come without food and consuming air alone, and unseen by all beings you shall live on in this hermitage while contritely recumbent in dust. [1-48-29, 30]

Kalyani what you say is right...I also come from a Vaishnava background and is a follower of the Gaudiya-Brahma samaj. DKDM has truly tried to degrade Vaishnava- cult and its glory. The Ramayana track now running is what I can only call an EGOCENTRIC approach.
Is it true that Kaushalya was blessed by Lord Shiva for a son? She and her husband (a Manu then), were blessed by Lord Vishnu that He would appear as their son for three times in the present and the coming Kalpa.
Is it true that Kaushalya was a Shaiva? She was a staunch Vaishnava. All Ramayanas confirm this.
What DKDM has showed about Lord Rama's character is completely bogus. Even though the Lord incarnates Himself on earth time and again, He is never swept over by human emotions and sentiments. Bhagwad- Gita confirms this: "Avj'ananti Ma'm Muda'h" i.e. only fools perceive Me as humans. Too much indulgence of Lord Shiva in the Ramayana track annoys me. They could have had shown His role in Hanuman-lilas.
Three cheers to Mohit Raina, whose acting is the only reason for me to watch this daily soap. But DKDM's too much dependence on virtual backgrounds and not -so-good special effects truly degrades the show.
No doubt, the research team has done a lot of research for this show, and applause👏 to them for bringing out many hidden facts about our mythology, but the twisting of every tale and giving it an egocentric look doesn't fit. And more frankly, DKDM has been poor at making the show a chronological saga, they have mixed themselves in their own bugged- up stories.

Vaishnava- cult is not a cult it a relgion or a sect with in hinduism.

Vaishnavaite and Shaviate, Shaktism Buddhism, Judaism Christianity and Islam are monothesist view of the supreme each with own point of view. But they all believe one supreme deity which ever they chose its there choice. A sect by definition is a couple houndred -thousand. From the indian point of view cults are really small for example Hare Krishna's (World Guadiya Vaishnavs) were at one time conisdered a cult during early seventy's as there membership was small. The hindu community them self considered them a cult. But the other Vaishnavs Sampradya ( Rudra, ShriVaishva, Swami Narayan, Ramuja, India Guaidya Vaishnavs)

A cult considered a fringe group with in mainstream of Religion.
Hinduism is not a religion that but a name given to us by the west. Where member of the Sanatham Dharma are either Vaishnav, Shavia, Shaktism, Smarta, Ganeshism.
