After dressing up some of the most prominent Bollywood actors, Vikram Phadnis is turning director. And the fashion designer has set his eyes on none other than Madhuri Dixit-Nene to act in the film.

"My film is a woman-oriented film and it demands a brilliant woman performer." says Phadnis. Why did he think of Madhuri to play the lead role? "The character demands a great performer and Madhuri fits the bill perfectly. I don't care who's a big or small star. I have approached those actors who I believe will give a great performance."

Talking about the film he says, "People believe that since I am associated with fashion I will end up making a glamorous and flashy film, but I am working on an emotional and sensitive subject.

I have to prove my credibility as a director and I know what my forte is. I know I'll be good with drama.

So what was Madhuri's reaction to his script? "Narrating the script to her gave me a big high. She was positive," he says. Is he shifting to full-time direction now? "I'll never give up designing, that's my mother profession," he replies.

boy..first it was manish malhotra who decided he might make a movie starring Kareena Kapoor i guess Vikram pounced on that idea himself as well and what better way to start than with Madhuri Dixit acting in your movie...
