| Actresses Kareena Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra are at it again. After a history of spats and catfights, Priyanka has dared to rub Kareena the wrong way yet again. The sexy actress has spoofed Kareena's 'Poo' act in her latest release Salaam-E-Ishq. And this time, Kareena isn't amused. The Kareena-Priyanka feud began a few years back when Priyanka was a newcomer who had still to prove her mettle. Kareena offered her her her friendship during the shoot of Aitraaz. Says a source, "During the Aitraaz days Kareana and Priyanka who are virtually of the same age hit it off beautifully. There was no rivalry between the two and even after work, Priyanka used to hang out at parties with Shahid Kapoor and Kareena."
However post-Aitraaz, Kareena was reportedly shocked when Priyanka suddenly emerged a star and walked away with the bouquets. "It hit Kareena like a bolt from the blue when her friend turned out to be an able competitor. Kareena had worked extremely hard on the role and had launched a power-packed performance. But for the first time in her career it had gone largely unnoticed, thanks to Priyanka," says the source.
Kareena started distancing herself and cooling off towards Priyanka from then on.
Then, a couple of years later, the two actresses met once again when they travelled together for a concert. Finally when the tour hit Antwerp, Priyanka and Kareena could hide their animosity no longer. "They had a huge fight and were screaming at each other. In fact, they almost came to blows," says the source. "They had to be literally pulled apart."
In 2006, when Pepsi struck a deal with them for an advertisement with SRK, each one made it clear that they wanted equal screen space. "Kareena worked hard not to be the less glamorous of the two. Priyanka too kept her | | Pooh-bah: Priyanka Chopra | distance. There was definitely unhealthy competition there," says a source present at the shoot.
When Farhan Akhtar approached Kareena for Don, she was sceptical as Priyanka was the main heroine of the movie. "However, she was tempted by the popularity of the 'Yeh mera dil' track. Also, she didn't want to turn down Farhan who she realises is close to Shah Rukh," says the source, "But she clearly wasn't too happy that Priyanka, a once lesser star, was now the unparalleled female lead of the film."
In Salaam-E-Ishq, Priyanka has spoofed 'Poo', the character Kareena played in Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham, making an obvious dig at Kareena. This time Kareena is clearly irritated. "Kareena is miffed and knowing her she might not be able to hide it for too long." |
