I think there is nothing wrong in calling your MIL as aunty ji.. If seema expecting gunjan to call her "Maa" then she have to treat Gunjan like her daughter first.

Atleast Auntiji is more respectful than Monster-in-law 😎

Jokes aside, for some silly reason they showed that Gunjan wanted more time to get used to the idea that Seema who was an auntiji to her for a long time has suddenly become her MIL (never understood Gunjan's weird request)

Gunjan has been calling Seema aunty ji since the day she entered the Garg haunted house. She would feel awkward calling her maa ji especially if she doesn't deserve it and let alone beti doesn't even treat her like a bahu.
