'SRK not as popular as Bachchan on KBC' New Delhi, Feb. 3 (AP): Top Bollywood actor Shahrukh Khan's popularity as host of India's biggest TV show is no match for his predecessor Amitabh Bachchan, a news report said on Saturday. ''Kaun Banega Crorepati'' - based on ''Who Wants to be a Millionaire'' - was scrapped in January last year following film legend Bachchan's illness, but was revived last week with 41-year-old Khan at the helm. The programme usually draws millions of viewers with huge money tied to advertising sales. Star Entertainment India television channel restarted the show on Jan. 22, and a random survey shows that audiences have given Khan, one of the biggest Bollywood heartthrobs of the past decade, the thumbs down, the Hindustan Times reported. The data compiled by India's Television Audience Measurement for the first four days showed a television viewership rating, or TVR, of 12.33. Bachchan, 61, had a bigger four-day audience in August 2005 with a 19.75 rating, the daily said. The paper did not provide the margin of error, and the show remains India's most popular. However, Star Entertainment India didn't agree with the findings. The number of people ''reached '' on Khan's first day was 23 million compared to Bachchan's 18 million, Paritosh Joshi, the network's president in charge of advertising and distribution said, according to the Hindustan Times. Joshi's figures are based on those who watched the gameshow for at least a minute. The TVR, on the other hand, gives the number of people who sat through the hour-long programme.

''Kaun Banega Crorepati'' offers a cash reward of 20 million rupees (US$434,800; euro336,100) for correctly answering 15 general knowledge questions.

these stupid people are obviously comparing shah rukh with amitabh...that's why shah rukh is not as popular as bachchan on KBC. 😡 ...but i don't believe one word of it. It can not be true

i think the new report is HT. Suddenly they are being very harsh on srk or they alway been harsh on srk 😕 It's quite funny how they are comparing 64 yrs old man with 41 years old 😆 Give me a break. Compare amitabh with his age league, why srk? 😕 Anyway srk is doing a brilliant job. only srk haters can't accept him.

I am absolutely sick of the comparison between AB and SRK> They are both superlative performers, brilliant actors, charismatic people, intelligent and very good people.

That's why they have reached the hights they have. This media comparision is disgusting.

Compare AMitabh to those of his age and his generation and talent. You will see how amazing he is.

COmpare Shah Rukh to his age group and his talent and you will see how amazing he is.

Amitabh has 20 yrs of more experience and credibility to his advantage. He was the original Don and original KBC host. Even if someone is better than him nobody can beat the original and that's the truth.
While Srk HAS THE advantage of youth and new technology on his side.He has charm which will actract the girl and lady audience.
So both have pro's and cons.

Why compare the two. We need a wonderful elderly actor in the film industry and we need a talented leading hero in the industry. Without each one of them , the industry would have an empty slot. Please stop this comparison. Media is feeding us this because they think this conflict will give us all something to argue and fight about. By doing so they sell more papers!

Let's not fall into this trap.
