LONDON: Bollywood star Shilpa Shetty said she was honored by the solidarity shown toward her by British and Indian audiences during her recent stint on "Celebrity Big Brother," but denied Thursday that her treatment on the British reality TV show was racist.

Shetty said she was delighted by the British public's reaction when she emerged from the set as the show's winner on Jan. 28.

"I expected just the Asians to welcome me and be proud of me, I expected that. But the British audience and public showed me so much love," she said in an interview with Sky News. "I feel so honored and so loved."

The actress said the behavior of her fellow contestant Jade Goody, her primary tormentor, had been motivated by jealousy and insecurity — but was not racism.

"She was aggressive, obnoxious at times, mannerless," Shetty said. "But when I said 'she's not a racist,' I meant that."

I think she just trying to show that she is a nice person and what not. She wants to get all the contracts that are being offered to her and if she is to stay stuff like that these people were racist and what she wouldn't look as good. She doesn't want to ruin her imagine, especially now that she has a chance to make millions using it. I might you that on the inside she is proable think that they were racist and proable hates them.

I think so to and i agree. She positively and logically won the house. She survived the harassing, the sponsors didn't think the others should be in and they got out and she was the last one standing! But i think Shilpa Shetty was just trying to prove that Ms.Goody here, just went a little too over board.

i thi nk she is trying to protect those people may be she thinks that bco of her those people sld not get into troble and all i think her for that but the thing is she sld have atleast protected her country atleast sai that wht ever the ysaid abt india is not true and all and somthing in favour of india.

i feel there is some thing missing in her comments

I think she didn't come across strong enough in her arguements... isaw the replay of this on tv and it looked like she was really bull****ing... I mean come on... she should deal with it head on... all her supporters are upset that she had to face racism, for our sake at least she shoud have called a spade a spade!!!😡

Ooooh! I am really mad that she wants to just pass it off so easily... I can't believe it!!😡
