A week after Shahrukh Khan climbed the hot seat as the host of Kaun banega Crorepati 3 the verdict is out. Industry analysts who did not want to commit themselves immediately, have now declared his show a hit.
And the reason? Apparently, because he is like you and I. "He is the perfect Jekyll and Hyde present in every one of us," said an analyst.
The Khan who welcomes the audience, clad impeccably in a three piece suit and speaking in a clipped tone ( a tenor that came naturally to Amitabh Bachchan), is what everyone in India aspires for thanks to Indian dream machine called cinema. The pucca sahib* if you will.
However, the boyish, roguish Khan who almost sticks out his tongue, who jumps to massage or hug a participant is the real India, and someone the Gen Next can identify with easily. He does not give you the impression that he is a swot, rather he looks like someone who will Google it up.
If the earlier versions hosted by Amitabh were scholastic-- Ivy League if you will, even if the questions were not high brow-- the latest edition is a nice mix of fun and information. Lighter, is not lesser.
