" Love and hatred are two sides of a coin. They often mean the same thing - that you have passionate feelings for someone. "
- I have no idea about the source.
So? Jalaal and Jodha really are unpredictable, aren't they? Having witnessed their almost emotionally brutal and physically scary showdown last night , you would have thought that they both would be on opposite sides of the Berlin Wall. But voila! This is what we witnessed today - Return to absolute civility and cultured behaviour minus Jalaal's sensuous trick at the Hamaam.
Jodha hates Jalaal and Jalaal hates Jodha. But is that really true? Or is it a psychological delusion that they want to stick to? Jalaal made grandiose declarations of hating Jodha but out of the four walls, he ensures that everyone bows down to her . He could have easily humiliated her to the hilt by making her bathe him in presence of the Baandies - he didn't. He wants to keep the fight flame between just the two of them - not a circus for everyone to see . And he doesn't want to involve anyone in this either. He could have extended the revenge to Maan but he did not. He keeps his affection for Maan and his mortal combat with Jodha strictly apart. Today, when Jodha comes flying to the Hamaam and almost orders him with veiled arrogance that he better not spill their bedroom beans to Bharmal and Mainavati, Jalaal is not offended , really. He smiles with his regal sly grins and tells her - Pretty cool, Begum! You are some shart-specialist or what? Ordering me around all the time? I am not gonna lie at all. He is not infuriated by Jodha's guts - he enjoys the tease and plays a verbal badminton match with her which Jodha loses in the end.
Jalaal hates Jodha's guts to HATE him , not Jodha as a person. He is a walking fanclub of honour, loyalty and courage - he salutes these qualities in people and his fondness for the fearless Maan and him not forcing himself on Jodha reflect that.
Jodha , on the other hand walks a tight rope. On the face, she is a bright, beautiful bride and Jalaal's wife - she honours the honour bestowed on her by the Kaneez and Baandhi clan with gratitude. Behind the face, she is still trying to comprehend what and who Jalaal really is. Hadn't she been doing so, she wouldn't have gone marching into Jalaal's hamaam after the almost mock-molestation that happened with her last night at the hands of Jalaal. Watch her face when Motibai tells Jodha that Jalaal may not be that big a monster - he did accept your two conditions and that was a big deal for him.
What gives Jodha the confidence that Jalaal MIGHT just agree to what she wants him to do - present a soulmate picture to Bhar and Mainaa? Why doesn't she do a u-turn and run off after she sees Jalaal partially naked in that hamaam? ...its not just because she is desperate to present an ideal pic in front of her folks , its also because inspite of her all the terror and disgust for Jalaal, she remembers that he has promised not to touch her...or else after the events of the last night , she wouldn't have the courage to bathe him in aromatic oils and milk jugs. Like, seriously.
And these two are supposed to hate each-other. They don't hate each-other at all. They hate each-other's guts and each-other's blind aggression.
Anyway, good episode minus Mainaa's ronaa-dhonaa. She is playing a Rajput queen and at least in that century, every Rajput's name was synonymous with FEARLESSNESS. And Maina really does have a bird's heart. I preferred Sujamal opposed to her.
MA is proving herself to be the insightful person that she is believed to be. Even in her villainy, she can clearly see the paths that Jodha and Jalaal are headed to- a kind of love that would never die.
Oh, and the title of the post? See the Hamaam scene and you would know what i mean! Ye Jalaal na! Kamaal ka sense of humour hai isska - kahaan toh Jodha order dene gayee thi,aur Jalaal ko nehlaane ki practice karni padee.
Precap? Well, if Jalaal is Jalaal, he will eat the whole food without flinching and deal with Jodha later. đ
