Bhagat singh, Azad, Netaji, Gandhi they all wanted to free India and had immense respect to each other. Bhagat singh knew Gandhiji was trying and di d not oppose as they both had same motive, Yes he did say no to saying Sorry to Britishers. They were also hanged before the planned day. I believe more then gandhi, it was Nehru'd politics of keeping fame to himself and not let any other freedom fighter come forward. Bhagat sing 's fame was at peak and by using Gandhi Britishers played another game. They had him sign treaty to show that he supported their decision. Due to Gandhi's invlovement a big riot was stopped. Yes I do beleive if Bhagat sing and Neta ji has Gandhi ji's support, we could have got freedom much earlier but may be with more blood sheeding.
Any way i was not there so exactly what hapened, No clue. My grand parents were very active in freedom fighting (With Gandhi ji) and all i know is through them only.

This is false that Bhagat singh would say no to Gandhiji's effort of freeing him. 😛

Britishers could never comprehend Bhagat's logic behind his half hearted attempts to be defended in a court and his willingness to be hanged; he never tried to flee from prison and kiss the hanging rope just before he was about to be hanged, a complete 180 from his own ideology and in a spirit of true Gandhian philosophy. In fact Britishers got trapped into it and hanged him a day earlier in a botched up attempt. And thankfully in that process Bhagat not only achieved martyrdom but left people in complete shock and inspired them to fight against British with a Gandhian way. No one would have ever remembered his name even remotely, had he been sent to Andaman Nicobar prison to rot over time. His death is the sole reason he is still regarded with high honor as Shaheed Bhagat Singh and being discussed at this forum right now.

i agree that they had respect for each other....but did bhagat singh support gandhiji's ways to achieve freedom??...😳

and regarding bhagat singh's "no" to gandhi's efforts..i thought on the basis of human mentality....😛 otherwise...no one can predict what bhagat singh could have done if gandhi wud have freed him.😛😛

😊

I dont remember haveing read that in history......so I think If Gandhi did it he had a good reason... Any person who shoots somebody in the Court-room takes sometime to appeal to a total pacifist... Its just that he wanted to be sure of what was at stakes... dont trust this. Acountry is like a family when the father has to split his family along his sons... its a sad moment and maybe there is no option left... for peace...😊

though I have total respect Bhagat Singh and grateful for his contribution for the freedom i can enjoy.. the world knows him not.. Its only Gandhi the world knows and for various reasons other than his contribution to India's freedom... so in case of doubt use this thumb rule...

i said that my knowledge of this topic wasn't so deep, i didn't say that i was some naive and gullible person who is easily influenced by some movie.

and from the response given by so many people here and in the other thread "gandhi vs. bhagat singh" it is clear that a lot of people believe that gandhi could've saved them.

its true that bhagat singh isn't that well known outside of india and thats sad. without him the british would've thought that indians were a bunch of pushovers who would be happy with whatever you threw on their plate (partial freedom).

the british were scared of people like bhagat singh.

and people like shaheed udham singh are completely forgotten. his mind blowing journey from a small pind in india to england where he shot the person responsible for the jalian wala bagh massacre is hardly known. all this was done in a british courtroom with so much security! this showed the british that indians do know how to fight back.

Mahatma Gandhi on the Martyrdom of Bhagat Singh

Freedom fighter Sardar Bhagat Singh was hanged by the British on accusations of anti-government activities on March 23, 1931. Here, Gandhi pays tribute to the patriotism of the young martyr while disagreeing with his revolutionary methods. Excerpted from Gandhi's article in Young India.

Bhagat Singh and his two associates have been hanged. The Congress made many attempts to save their lives and the Government entertained many hopes of it, but all has been in a vain.one thing i really want to ask u , Lala Lajpat Rai had adopted a non voilence path but he died during lathicharch while he was opposing Simon commission with Dharna, but u never been bitten with a Single Lathi, can I know WHY?and yes Bhagat Singh was against non-voilence but why he was always with Lala Ji and not with u, why?

Bhagat Singh did not wish to live. He refused to apologize, or even file an appeal. waooo👏 what a true petrotic who was advising other petriotic to opologise in front of britishers Bhagat Singh was not a devotee of non-violence, but he did not subscribe to the religion of violence. He took to violence due to helplessness and to defend his homeland. In his last letter, Bhagat Singh wrote --" I have been arrested while waging a war. For me there can be no gallows. Put me into the mouth of a cannon and blow me off." These heroes had conquered the fear of death. Let us bow to them a thousand times for their heroism.ur teachings are so great thats why ur followers are insulting other freedom fighters including Bhagat singh waoooo👏 good teachings

But we should not imitate their act. In our land of millions of destitute and crippled people, if we take to the practice of seeking justice through murder, there will be a terrifying situation. by adopting ur mathods, today India is soo calm( no kashmir problem, blue star( who did that.. remember? ur adopted son's wife and ur friend's daughter) gujrat riots, etc etc & curruption free Our poor people will become victims of our atrocities. By making a dharma of violence, we shall be reaping the fruit of our own actions.

Hence, though we praise the courage of these brave men, we should never countenance their activities. Our dharma is to swallow our anger, abide by the discipline of non-violence and carry out our duty.

bhagat singh apologizing to the british? yeah right, that would be going against anything and everything that he believed in.
