Could he not just have changed the date by himself in response to saanchi's request without a bribe? Saanchi would obviously have given him a "gift" during the engagement or something.
Is it really necessary to show him accepting a bribe?
And if they are trying to show that he is another "dhongi" like the sadhu baba, then why not go all the way and show that these astrological timings and consultations with pandits are bullshit? They could broaden the message and show that these things too are superstition type of stuff.
Either maintain the sanctity of hindu customs and traditions ... or show them to be fake altogether. But this sort of mid-way mockery does not seem appropriate to me.
