Kumud reminded both us and Saras the reason why we fell in love her - once she makes a commitment, she sticks to it. I hate the abuse she's facing from her husband, I hate that she's hiding all of his disgusting habits, and I hate that she's not packing her bags and leaving him right this second. But, if she had done all that, she wouldn't be the Kumud Sundari that we had seen from the very first episode. The one who doesn't back down from challenges, and who doesn't quit when the going gets tough. Kumud told Saras loud and clear today that she doesn't regret her decision, nor was it a spur of the moment thing she did just to rebound from her fallout with him.
Don't get me wrong, I don't think an educated girl should have to deal with the crap Kumud is putting up with. If I were her I would've packed my bags and left the first day itself - but I don't live in the society Kumud lives in. All the reasons she gave Saras today were real and valid. Her family would face questions - their name would be disgraced - her sisters' and brother's reputations would also be put on the line. Yes I think it's wrong for a girl to go through pain and torture just to uphold her family honor. But Kumud had already resigned to her fate the night that Saras called - she accepted that her dreams were broken, and like she said today, she lost faith in herself. The only reason left for living for her was her family. And now, whether she is in Pramad's house as his wife or in her own as Vidyachatur's divorced daughter, those dreams will still be broken. Kumud has accepted that she won't find her happiness - in her mind, the least she can do is ensure that her family doesn't have to suffer because of her.
I loved how Saras was slightly smiling towards the end of the confrontation, and how he listened to her speak with so much pride in his eyes. This is his Kumud, the one who never backs down or takes insult sitting down. JenAm were both amazing in this scene, and I hope the Kumud we see in the precap stays for a while.
