this was exactly the way i had imagined! or maybe i'm a prophet and i can see what you are gonna post in the future! 🤣great update! and Ramzan mubarak 😃it's such a coincidence that my birthday falls on Ramzan this year 😃
Asad cringed as he watched Zoya sob pitifully, her body crumpled into a small ball and her face buried in her hands. Without even thinking about it, he moved towards her, pulling her hands away from her face and cupping it with his own, using his thumbs to wipe her tears away. Zoya's sobs subsided slowly, as bewilderment began to take over instead. Asad dragged his hands down the length of her neck and shoulders to reach her upper arms, slowly curling his fingers around her arms and guiding her to stand up, allowing her to clutch his arms for support as she did.
Tanveer fumed as she noticed Dilshaad stop at the top of the staircase to gaze down at Asad and Zoya, her eyes softening considerably. She fumed even more when she followed Dilshaad's gaze to catch Asad's concern for Zoya. She rolled her eyes upwards and thought of adding fuel to the fire by commenting on their shamelessness, but before she could get to it, Asad interrupted her.
"Ammi, Zoya ki halat toh dekho. Thoda sa toh rahem karlo," Asad's voice came out strong as he lifted his chin and spoke spitefully to his mother, deciding that if pleading wasn't going to work, then a fair amount of emotional blackmail would definitely work. He watched his mother close her eyes and sigh loudly.
"Theek hai, Zoya can stay. Lekin ek shart par, yehi ke tum dono nikaah karlo. I'm not going to allow both of you to frolic around each other in this house otherwise. I'll give you until tonight to decide. If it's a yes, then agle jumme ko nikaah hoga. And if it's a no, then I will call up Zoya's aapi, aur tum mujhe rok nahi sakte," Dilshaad replied, her voice full of resolve.
In trying to digest the gravity of Dilshaad's ultimatum, Tanveer stumbled a few steps backwards involuntarily, forgetting completely that she was on a staircase. She fell on her face as her body dragged itself downwards by a few steps on the staircase. She groaned audibly as her brain registered the pain. After a moment of wrapping her mind around the series of events that had just transpired, Tanveer lifted her head off the wooden step to clutch her nose and look up for help, but to her dismay, no one had even noticed! Dilshaad and Asad were absorbed in a staring competition, while Zoya stared at Asad and Najma stared at Dilshaad, both completely absorbed as well. She smacked her hand on her already painful forehead in disbelief, before clambering to get back on her two feet.
By the time she had managed to, Najma had already followed behind Dilshaad into her bedroom, closing the door behind them. She looked back down to Asad and Zoya, who shared an awkward glance before disentangling their arms from each other and pacing back to their respective rooms on the ground level as well, shutting their doors behind them. Tanveer growled in frustration and clenched her fists into tight balls, as she marched up to her room. She had to think of a new plan, with immediate effect.
Najma jumped at the sound of Tanveer's door slamming outside her mother's room. What was Tanveer getting so worked up about? She shrugged and focused her attention on her mother, frowning deeply as she watched her settle down on her bed, adjusting her pillows nonchalantly. How could ammi be so calm about this whole matter?
"Ammi! Aapne yeh kya kar diya?! Please don't send Zoya away, I'm sure koi na koi explanation hoga iss sara mamla ke liye. Why didn't you let bhaijaan or Zoya speak first? Please don't do this, Zoya is like the cool elder sister I never had. I can't bear seeing her leave," Najma wailed, as she sat down next to her mother and pleaded. Dilshaad simply smiled in response, patting her daughter's head lovingly.
"Why are you being so negative Najma? Zoya isn't going anywhere, I won't let her. Ek baar tumhare bhaijaan ka nikaah hojaye Zoya se, toh woh kabhi bhi iss ghar se nahi jayegi," Dilshaad explained, in a rather flippant tone. She suppressed a laugh as she watched the creases on Najma's forehead deepen, her confusion increasing instead of decreasing.
"Najma, after the initial shock of seeing Asad and Zoya in the state we did, I locked myself in my room to calm down and gather my thoughts. I knew in my heart that Asad and Zoya are not like that, aur mujhe zaroor kuch galatfehmi hogayi hai. So I decided that I would go ask them exactly what had happened last night. But as I approached Asad's room, I caught snippets of their conversation. It was clear that both of them couldn't even remember how they had ended up in the bedroom together and it sank in then that my bacche are just as clueless as we are. They didn't do this on purpose. Something strange happened in between, something not only Asad and Zoya need to investigate, but even I need to," Dilshaad explained, smiling fondly at her daughter, who still remained as confused as ever. She stroked her daughter's face lovingly just as Najma was about to voice her confusion, silencing her.
"Now you're going to ask me why I still yelled at them. That's because in the heat of that moment, I realized that this would be the perfect time to help Asad and Zoya wake up from their deep slumber and realize how deeply they love each other. I've known this for the longest time, but I'm tired of waiting for them to figure it out themselves, I'm going to intervene this time. So I feigned anger and came up with this ridiculous ultimatum. Tum dekhna Najma, they're going to choose the nikaah option. If I know my son well enough, woh Zoya ko jaane nahi dega," Dilshaad concluded, as a wave of realization and understanding washed over Najma, a broad grin appearing on her face. She threw her arms around Dilshaad and enveloped her in a bear hug, fetching a round of hearty laughter from her. Her mother was a genius!
