Hiii

So I watched Raanjhana yesterday.

and the one thing that kinda nipped me in the end was Dhanush and his marte dam tak loving Zoya.

I don't think I completely understood it.

WHY does Dhanush's character completely succumb to the decisions and paths taken by Zoya? Why does he completely chuck away whatever he had for himself for this one girl?

I understand that a crush is serious, and falling in love is a complicated process.

But Zoya, not once, not twice, like a million times indicates that it can't happen between then.

In the end, Kundan knowingly sacrifices himself for Zoya and is then revered as a Raanjhana of sorts.. but what I don't get is, why is his love for her so great? He took one look at her when they were kids, fireworks went off. But what after?

Why does Abhay have to suffer in between? When he and Zoya fell in each other's love, and went even past the issue of looks, and into each others opinions and thoughts.. why does that love not get to be as celebrated as Kundan's?

may b becos even the love which Abhay's character had for zoya, d marriage was only going to be successful after Kundan convinced zoya's parents.. moreover, Abhay's death was becos of one lie by zoya herself to kundan.. she kept on using his emotions for her ulterior motives..

so i felt like it was a back slap to zoya by d almighty, that breaking someone's heart can never make one happy either...

Kundan's case he was willing to die in her one say.. it wasnt that till d end he tried to get zoya in his life, d very dat zoya told him about Abhay, kundan all accepted in his heart and mind that he is no more going to have dreams or wish to make zoya his.

yess, d only thing dat still made him sacrifice everything for her was his love, actually he dint know what to do with his life.. since being kid all he did is either try to woo her, nd later the childhood he spend in her wait, she came back and again he spend his life in solving her problems, but once she was officially out of his life, he dint see any direction , he dint know dat nw what ?.. nw what to do for zoya, or in short for my living or existence...i feel in the perspective of his character, he is more than happy to die for zoya... so he did..

in short both the men die becos of zoya .. One accidentally and the other willingly...

yes he did feel very guilty on that..

but no way he died becos of his guilt.. it was not becos of his guilt that he went to die even aftr knowing about it.. as i said above its becos, his life has been always spend doing smthing or the other thing for zoya.

nd yes abhay died aftr Kundan revealed the truth, but i feel he is not the one to be hold responsible, its abhay and zoyta themselves who uttered such a big lie knowing about the consequences.. on one hand zoya told kundan dat she cant be hers as he is a hindu but on teh other hand she stakes her lover's life by taking this big risk... so zoya has to be blamed here much more than kundan..

I agree that Zoya should be blamed, definnitely

but I just dont understand why Kundan is so self depracating, almost, in front of her

especially like, how does someone forget someone who slit their wrists for them?

I haven't seen the movie but I did read the plot and honestly, I couldn't connect.

I had another doubt, why would Zoya ask Kundan to convince her family? It's like 'Hey I don't love you but you should help me get married to somebody I love"

Dhanush is the only good thing about the movie till now. Dunno if watching it would change my views.

yes .. but dats is hw zoya was.. it was strange u know at the moment when he goes 2 recieve he in the railway station nd he was left unrecognized by her..

but again i think that part was integral to show dat zoya has come a long way since her childhood, infact she had this notion in her mind that educated ppl in banaras r not half as educated as her..

on the other hand Kundan as we all know, was waiting for zoya.. he had always this mindset that zoya is someone superior than him... but again in one scene he tells her that "its my devotion that i loved u so much, u dont have any contribution in it, u r not a fairy and not the only one in this city for kunda" ... that was d thing i liked about him .. but again yeah d guilt of abhay's chars death made him more nd more give himself to zoya..

donno that aftr watching d film will u change ur view or not..

but one thing i can definitely say u, Dhanush makes d film worthy a watch even if u dont connect wid d story..

aftr watching him in Raanjhanaa, my condition is such that i can watch a film in mute given dat he is onscreen..

its a good film, nd one watch wudnt be a waste of time..

@bold:- dats hw zoya was, she was aware of the extent kundan can go for her.. she knew dat she can easily fool him+.. she knew dat he wudnt tolerate to see her sit nd cry for her love.. he wud do it for her.. so she went to him.. d onlyu thing she shudnt have done was using his love as a tool for her self gain... that rather resulted into her own loss..

Kundan's love for zoya had crossed the boundaries of love and had turned into obsession over the years she was away. Zoya being a clever person realised the situation and decided to manipulate Kundan into doing what she wished. He was blinded by his obsession and couldnt truly realise her true face.

Secondly it was a hindi film, most people who went to watch it wouldnt have tolerated the fact that Sonam didnt miraculously transform into a good person before the end and Kundan's love was treated as anything but the finest form of love.

As for abhay's death it was more about the Karma angle and a punishment for zoya.
