Chapter 8 – Kria !!!

Kria couldn't concentrate on her work .. every now and then she would drift into her thoughts of what had happened the previous night between her and Rey ..

Rey , like all other husbands had wanted to get intimate with her .. and he was not wrong in any way .. and he had tried take lead in his own way .. but she had suddenly developed cold feet and chickened out ..

She no doubt loved his small actions of love , his kisses on her cheeks , forehead .. his hugs .. but she didn't know why she was not comfortable to go ahead with him ..

She felt very small and stupid for acting so childish .. but she just couldn't help the nervousness in her heart .. but Rey had been so supportive , so patient ,he had understood her feelings .. he had comforted her .. after she changed back to her night clothes , he had made sure she was fine by sitting next to her and caressing her forehead till she glided off into deep sleep ..

She knew she could trust him , so she felt she should let him know everything that was hidden in her heart ..

That night Rey came late from office as he had to complete some pending work so that he can then fully relax for the coming days ...
As he entered their bedroom he found Kria already sleeping .. He saw her pale face and realized that she must have been thinking about what had happened yesterday ..
He slowly bent to give a kiss on her forehead and as he was about to turn to move towards the washroom , his eyes caught sight of a white envelope kept on his bedside table ..
He frowned and walked to pick it up ..
His name was written on it and he was sure that the handwriting was Kria's ...
He glanced at her sleeping form and then took the envelope and proceeded towards the washroom ...

Dear Rey ,

I just couldn't gather enough courage to tell you in person ,what I wanted to ... Hence taking the help of this letter ...

I want to tell you that I trust you completely .. Please don't doubt about that even for a second ..

It's just that the way I was brought up or the way I am ... I don't know how to put it across to you ... I just feel certain things don't come easily to me ...
I do want to say , convey to you what I feel but find it difficult ... I am really sorry ...

I want to tell you certain things about myself ...
I was brought up in a traditionally and a very protective environment ... I went to a girls school and a girls college ...
I haven't had any close friend who was a boy ... Just some casual acquaintances with the neighborhood boys ..
Even at workplace it's always been professional relationship with my male colleagues ..
I have had and have lots of girl-friends. ... Some reserved , some bold , some traditional and some modern too ..
Interacting with them , mingling with them , growing with them and I must say sometimes imitating them in my room privately, I realized I couldn't be like them .. I was different .. I can never do something which I am not comfortable with ... It just ruins everything .. Then I go in this remorse mode ... feeling guilty and feeling dejected about myself ..

And I really don't want to do anything to make u regret anything about me ...
You are very special to me ..

I have always dressed in a particular way ... Even though my parents never forced anything on me .. They were very open minded with everything ...
But somewhere I am not comfortable with my own body and maybe that is the reason I hide it ..

The dress you gifted me was so beautiful but maybe it was not meant for me .. I just ruined the sheer beauty of it ...

I am sorry again ..

I know as a husband you do expect certain things from me .. Even I want to .. But ...

I find it difficult to express my feelings .. But I want to tell you that I love everything what you do for me .. It makes me really happy ...

I know I am taking time and you may be angry or sad about that but I just want to say that I am trying and I promise that I will keep doing so ...

Rey sat staring at the piece of paper ...
He had read it 5 times and he just couldn't control the tears which had clouded his eyes as well as the soft smile which was playing on his lips ..

He couldn't imagine his wife saying that she can't express her feelings .. What did she do here then ?
He shook his head ...
He kissed the paper and thought .. another reason that is pulling me closer to her .. she just doesn't stop to fascinate me ..

"Kria .. " he spoke almost to himself .. "I am neither angry nor sad .. but in fact I am the happiest man alive today .. I had never thought that one day someone would come in my life and would become the focal point of my life .. my whole life would revolve around that person .. and I am so happy to declare that the person is you .. "

He smiled .. and knew what he would do to bring Kria out of her reticence ..

"Kria .. " .. he shook her gently .. pulling her duvet away .. "Kria .. wake up . .we are going out for breakfast .. " he enthusiastically expressed ..

Kria sleepily stretched her arms .. "What .. is it morning already .. " with her eyes still closed as she was in deep sleep ..

"Yes .. its 5 in the morning .. "

"WHAT .. " she sat with a jolt on her bed and her eyes grew wide with shock seeing a smiling Rey ..

"Why do you want breakfast so early .. ?" she asked with confusion written explicitly on her face ..

She looked so cute ..

"We have to go to some place and there we will have breakfast .. " he winked .. "Now .. move .. go and freshen up .. fast " he literally shoved her off the bed ..

She looked at him baffled as if he had gone crazy .. "Where are we going ?" she asked .. still rubbing her eyes ..

"That's a surprise .. "

"Rey .. please its Sunday .. can't you let me sleep for some more time .. "

"No ways .. I am giving you just half an hour to get ready .. and yes .. wear jeans and you need to take a jacket and scarf .. because its gonna be cold and windy where we are going "

She narrowed her eyes and then looked at him suspiciously .. trying to frame some argument in her mind .. but when she saw him pointing to his wrist watch , she rushed to the washroom ..

"Rey .. please tell me where are we heading to ?" she pleaded for the "nth" time … holding him from behind as he rode his bike ..

He simply chuckled seeing her concerned face thru the mirror , her skin going a bit white with the cold wind hitting her face and her hands holding him around his waist .. he felt really good .. "It's a surprise "

She pouted .. "That's what you have been telling me for the past 1 hour "

"Just .. some more time .. then you will see " he scrunched his nose ..

Kria had been shocked when Rey took out his bike and they started .. she had been expecting some kind of a reaction from him regarding the letter she had left for him .. now she wondered if he even read it or no ..

As she sat behind him .. seeing the deep green valley around her.. as they rode on the winding ghats .. the morning mist .. the cold breeze .. everything making her feel as fresh as the morning dew and she started smiling widely forgetting all her worries about the letter and what had transpired between them ..

"This is the best dhaba , here you get the best aloo paratha , garma garam gajar halwa and amazing lassi " as they stopped and entered "Toni the Dhaba" ..

She rolled her eyes "Are you crazy .. we came here all the way for breakfast ?" her voice coining pleasant amazement ..

"Yes .. I am crazy .." he smiled .. and he inhaled the mouth-watering aroma and the breath taking view of the mesmerizing Lonavala from the hill top dhaba ..

"Isn't it lovely ?" he asked looking around ..

"Yes .." she had to admit .. "It's beautiful " taking in the natural beauty as they both settled with their orders ..

"I wanted to take you on a surprise breakfast date ?" he said looking steadily at her now calm and beaming face ..

She blinked twice as she understood his intentions .. she registered that he had read her letter and this was his way of reacting to it .. a slow and soft color arose on her creamy white cheeks as she fought helplessly with her eyes to look everywhere but him and her lips curving without her knowledge , assuring him that she had loved everything he did for her ..

"Come on Kria .. you have got to win it .. concentrate " Vicky motivated her sitting next to her ..

The whole family had arrived after 3 days of their trips ..

"Yes Kria .. we are with you .. " Rey's mom excitedly put her arm around her shoulder to indicate her support too ..

Whereas , Rey and his Dad sat opposite to her as they played the game of chess ..

Rey's Dad was with Rey .. but he was quiet and was concentrating on the game just like Rey .. but the other two family members just couldn't contain their eagerness as they knew if Rey lost the game , they could make him do anything , their main reason for joy ..

"Check and mate " Kria declared with a relief after almost 3 hours of playing the mentally exhilarating as well as exhausting game ..

Rey and his Dad both frowned and didn't comment for a long time , trying to figure out a way to reply back .. but finally gave up ..

"I guess , there is no way out .. " his Dad at last said ..

Rey smiled .. "Ok .. what do you want me to do ?" he asked looking at Kria ..

"Yes .. Kria .. make Rey do something that he has never done before .. " Vicky happily hi-fied with his mother ..

"What about 100 sit ups ?" his mother said wiggling her brows ..

Kria simply laughed at Rey's stunned face .. he pleading with his eyes to her , not to give him some hard task ..

"Ask him to make the dinner today " Vicky said ..

He and his mother were enjoying themselves at Rey's cost ..

"Enough both of you .. please let her say .. she has won the game .. " Rey said with a little fake anger in his voice ..

"Kria .. don't be scared .. " his mom teased ..

Rey simply rolled his eyes at them ..

"Can we go out for 2 days with your friends , as its been long that we have met them and they didn't come for your Birthday as they wanted to give us privacy .. " she said softly , astounding everyone with her words ..

Rey's mother simply hugged her from the side and Vicky simply threw his hands in air in frustration "That is so typical of Kria .. I simply don't like it .. " .. His dad smiled at her ..

And as for Rey , he couldn't believe that she yet again gave him another reason for him to fall for her .. how does she do that.. does she have some kind of a magic wand that she waves and just makes me get entangled into her .. he wondered .. he wanted to actually rush up to her and hug her with all his might .. but he controlled himself and simply dragged her to their room ..

Once in their room .. he brought her into her arms and kissed her forehead .. "Thank you "

"Let's race upto the water " Rey suddenly perked up and got up from his place .. they were all lazing in a corner , under the umbrellas ,on a beach near Mumbai .. Swayam and Sharon were cozying with each other , Vicky and Neha had been bickering about something .. and Kria was smiling looking at the beautiful sea waves ..

As his words were out of his mouth .. the reactions of his friends were so damn funny but it was as expected by him..

"Oh S*** .. where is my sun screen " Sharon frantically started searching for it was pretty sunny ..

"Honey .. make it quick , I can't let Rey win this time .. " Swayam helped her find the tube ..

"My hair .. " Neha wailed as she tried to get her band to tie them .. she didn't want them to be wet in the water ..

"Darling .. they can't get worse than they already are "Vicky smirked and got a hard punch and glare from Neha ..

And as for Kria .. she smiled in amusement at Rey's friends .. but looked at him with worry as she pointed to her feet .. she had got hurt while walking on the beach a while back as she had accidently stepped on a sharp sea shell ..

Swayam and Vicky winked at each other "Rey .. hard luck buddy .. I think you forgot Kria won't be able to run and we are sure you won't leave her behind .. so a consolation prize for you this time .. "

Rey simply rolled his eyes .. his two friends from college from India .. his best buddies .. they simply loved to pull each other's legs .. and they had remained same even after their marriages ..

"Rey will never lose to you guys " he grinned as they all got up from their places ..

Before they could even blink their eyes .. he picked up a confused Kria in his arms and ran towards the water making the jaws of his friends fall and they almost forgot the race ..

On the other hand Kria was so startled with the sudden action , she almost clutched his collar and hugged him tight in fear , her face buried in the crook of his neck ..

He couldn't help but smile as he waited for her to regain her composure , because it had been almost more than 5 minutes that he was standing still in the water and Kria had not left her position ..

Finally she came back to reality when Neha teased "Kria .. ab toh chod do Rey ko "

"Ya .. you both won " Sharon continued as they all laughed ..

She slowly lifted her head and looked at a smiling Rey .. "Tum darr gayi thi ?" he asked mocking her a bit …

She did get scared but she didn't want to show it to him and the others ..

"Nahi .. nahi toh " she looked away ..

"Accha ?" he again teased ..

"Ismein darne ki kya baat hai ?" she tried to speak with a steady voice ..

He laughed .. "Yes .. ek baat bolu .. "

She raised her brow ..

"I loved it .. "

"What ? " she asked confused ..

"When you held me tight .. it felt as if you would never let me go " he said seriously .. looking deeply in her eyes ..

Kria looked at her hands .. she was still holding his collar firmly .. she felt a slight blush creeping on her cheeks .. yes for the first time after their marriage , she was holding him so close and so securely .. she felt good , it felt the most natural thing to do .. she finally smiled "I will never let you go "

"But .. I have to let you go ?" he smirked ..

"What ?"

"My arms are aching .. can I keep you down ?" he smiled seeing her astonished expression which turned to embarrassment ..

"Why are we here .. it's pretty late in the night and cold too " a concerned Kria asked Rey .. as he made her lie down next to him on the beach ..

Vicky and Neha , Swayam and Sharon too lay beside them .. on their own bedspread which they all had got along with pillows ..

Kria looked at everyone with a confused expression .. all the couples were snuggling into each other and looking at the sky .. it looked as if they were waiting for something .. it looked as if everybody knew something was gonna come except she ..

"Shh " Rey simply put his arm around her .. "Make yourself comfortable .. " looking at the clear sky smiling ..

She looked quizzically at him .. "Are we waiting for some star to fall ?" she asked playfully ..

"No .. we are waiting for the sky to light up .. " gathering her a bit close to him ..

She found it strange but looked up at the clear dark sky with the beautiful stars shining down at her ..

And then suddenly out of now where ,she saw something rise from the sea .. it appeared to be a rocket .. then there was a sound .. the rocket exploded in the bland sky into an array of astounding sparkles .. each cluster of lights having a different colors ranging from blue to pink to green to red ..

Kria literally jolted up to a sitting position from her previous lying down one , and craned her neck to look at the sky , her eyes wide with excitement and her hands clapping like a little girl who has suddenly seen her favorite candy and she simply couldn't keep from hooting "Wow .. wow .. wow " as one after another the sky burst open with numerous blazing firecrackers ..

The firecracker transformed from small coiled up buds into a more elaborate stars or balls .. they rose .. they flared and then they crumbled showing off their beauty ..

Kria was awestruck and was trembling with exhilaration seeing the flaming wonder ..

Suddenly she heard Swayam saying "Rey .. this is awesome ,man .. I am loving it .. "

Vicky too called out "Dude .. you just made our nights " making everybody explode with laughter ..

Kria looked away from the glittering sky towards Rey .. his eyes were gleaming with joy not looking at the sky but at her ..

She understood , he had done all this just for her .. her eyes glistened with immense joy her heart was experiencing ..

There was nothing else she could think of at that moment .. she simply moved into his arms and placed her head on his chest , her arms went around his neck and looked up in the sky , enjoying the lights and sound artwork ..

"Kria .. it's just for a week " Rey said as he gently removed her bangles one at time ..

The whole week had been like a dream for Kria .. the Lonavala breakfast surprise .. then the Kihim beach outing .. and then Rey's cute gestures which he had done for her every day ..

He had declared to her that he would select a jewelry every day for her and he would adorn her with it ..

She was getting used to his surprises .. he had been doing and saying things which she least expected , but somewhere she knew it was because of what she had written in her letter to him and this was his way for reacting to it .. responding to it .. and she just couldn't help feel happy for herself ..

It started off with earrings .. then her bindi , then a small necklet , then anklets and today was bangles .. he took utmost care to select it for her before going to office .. made her wear it with his own hands and then in the evening he himself removed it .. such a simple gesture .. but she felt so special and so good ..

And now she would miss it as he would be off to London for a week for his project .. even she couldn't accompany him as she had some urgent work in her own office , making her feel more depressed ..

"Jana jaruri hai ?" she didn't know why .. but she didn't want him to leave her ..

"Kria .. actually I was involved in this project right from the beginning … I tried to postpone it to next month so that you could come with me , but the client with whom we are having a deal is in real hurry .. I am sorry .. " he said softly as he had her hands close to his lips ..

"It's ok .. I don't know I just felt a bit .. " she couldn't complete because she herself didn't know why she was feeling a bit restless ..

"I will miss you , Kria .. " he kissed her knuckles ..

"Me too .. " she managed with a weak smile ..

"Promise me .. you are not gonna move around with this glum face .. " he flicked her nose ..

"Hmm " she tried to assure her heart but no .. it was faraway from being relaxed ..

He saw her forlorn face and suddenly cupped her cheeks .. "And after I come back .. we have to do something important " he smirked ..

He immediately saw her flutter her eyes .. she was confused as well as nervous .. "What .. "

"Something we both are waiting for .. " he continued his teasing .. enjoying her expressions ..

Her heart beating faster than she thought she could handle it ..

"What ?" she asked again gulping a bit ..

"Something which we haven't done yet .. " he paused seeing the worry lines occurring on her forehead "after our marriage "

"Kya ?" she almost whispered ..

"Tumhare saath " he brought his lips close to her cheek .. "Barish mein bheegte hue , gol gappe and paneer pakode khane hain tumhare saath " quickly pecked her cheek and grinned ..

She almost let out a sigh of relief and was immediately embarrassed , as she knew he had caught her ..

"Tum kya soch rahi thi ?" he asked and laughed as she hugged him , with her blazing hot cheeks ..
