I agree Ganga is a mother herself and her mind works well in emergency situations. But it makes no sense that the nurse who has seen it all, has requisite training and education (though she is no doc herself) and has psychological training also to keep composure in any situation, got anxious whereas the other lay person was all fine! Perhaps you did not hear the nurse tell Jagya on the phone that she was out of her depth because she had never delivered a child before. Maybe you were LOLing so loudly that you missed It when Jagya said don't worry I'll get there soon just make the patient comfortable. Why does it make no sense @part in bold. There are very educated people out there who don't have presence of mind or even common sense. Why is it so unusual to believe. Btw the nurse who was with Ganga also mentioned that Ganga had already seen birth/s and already received some training in that field. Plus that same nurse mentioned that the distraught nurse who was a the hospital was new and had not experienced this yet.
It is also hard to believe that they got only Ganga from staff quarters and not other nurses! Again, you must have been LOLing so loudly that you missed a vital piece of info wherein it was mentioned that all the nurses wher sent to help Lal Singh in a neighboring village. Btw, Ganga saw Gehna come in when she was getting Manu some milk from the canteen. Thank goodness she fed Mannu first before coming to help on her own or else she would have been criticised for being the worst mum ever.
There wasn't shortage of trained people there. The previous episode showed a need for extra nurses to be sent to a neighboring village to help Lal Singh. Before leaving with special meds for a patient in that same neighboring village, Jagya and the nurse had a conversation and the nurse told him not o worry as there were no serious cases in the hospital and she would manage everything.
Gehna's pregnancy was earlier shown to be so sensitive and complicated case. Getting her baby delivered by a lay person and in this literally botched up manner was hard to believe. What was botched up about the delivery? The nurse was shown at the 'receiving' end of the business (probably checking for dilation and crowning). It was actually tastefully done. Yes during IVF procedure, precautions are taken earlier but thereafter Jagya had cleared her and advised her to move about and do work and stuff. Maybe you missed that too.
Anyway, there have been movies in which outlandish things like conducting delivery blindfolded have been shown. BV was a tad better. Quite a backhanded compliment, but a compliment nevertheless.
Ganga has more aptitude than trained and professional nurses? Okay! If IAS can do job of IPS also and doctor can treat everything from kidney to gynae to cardio to neuro disorders then, now school pass women can have more aptitude and instincts than professional nurses. Next level of "practice" in BV's unique portrayal of careers. Why not? Why can't Ganga have more aptitude or be more instinctive. Because of her aptitude, she is making a career out of it by training to be a nurse na?
It's quite sad that ALL emphasis is given to formal schooling and book smarts as a qualifier for success in a crisis situation. Why can't street smarts, common sense and good instincts also qualify?
About the whole OTT drama during prime time viewing claim...let me just say this, shows like Saathiya on Starplus that are shown a whole hour earlier had both daughter in laws giving birth in public without any medical personnel present.
Mahadev on LifeOK shows gory violence in all its glory between the Gods and demons and this is a half hour prior to the BV slot.
The body should be treated like science. It's sad that in this day and age people are still prudish about tastefully done childbirth scenes. Even the 3i scenes were fine. Kareena showed more skin in the Zoobie Doobie song sequence than was shown in the childbirth scene. Agneepath, gangs of wasseypur etc had more violence than BV. Agnnepath even had a scene where the little girl was being sold. How did you guys watch that with your dads. Does India really enforce ratings (I'm asking seriously as I really don't know).
Me thinks that sourness of mind with regards to the replacement has brought about a vendetta of sorts.
